Weightloss stopped - should I do the reverse?

Hear me out :o)

I lost 4lbs in the first 2 weeks of MFP, doing very little exercise. Since then I've been exercising regularly, and haven't lost any more weight.

So - if I stop exercising and continue eating to my calorie goal of 1400, will I start losing weight again? Then I could pick up the exercise again slowly, and when I reach my goal weight I'll adjust everything.

Would this be the very wrong way to go about it? At the moment I'm glad I'm getting fitter of course, but I really want to lose inches, that's what my goal is now.

I wanted to lose 30lbs, so technically I have 26lbs more to go, not a huge amount, but when it's not moving it feels like it's further away.

Give your body some time to adjust to the workouts and try adding some weight lifting. If the scale isnt moving, try mesuring yourself. I tend to lose inches and not pounds.

Where did your 1400 calorie goal come from? MFP or TDEE-20%?

How long has it been since you last saw a drop on the scale? It's not unusual for weight loss to slow or stop when we start a new exercise program because our bodies flood sore muscles with excess water to help them heal, masking any fat loss going on. If it's only been a couple of weeks, then that may be what's happening. Drink plenty of fluids and give it some time.

Thank you ladies :o) It came from TDEE-20%.

I presume I should eat back my exercise calories, but I read on here that TDEE already includes exercise estimate, so if I eat back my calories I'll be eating at TDEE, which is not recommended for weightloss. Hmmm.

Correct, do not eat back your calories then but you should be eating all of your calories.

Thank you - I will continue doing this then and being patient while readjustment is taking place. The stopping has not affected my motivation, but the initial surprise glee I felt after 5lbs has gone, and I'd like more of it :o)
