How many rest days?

Hi there

how many rest days do u have from dieting and exercise in a week and are they the same day?

what i mean is...do u have one day where u go all crazy and eat anything u like? and then another day where u refrain from running/exercising?

I read it was good to take rest days from running- i have started running- but i havent yet taken a day out (its been 10 days) in the fear i will not want to get back into it, (took long enough getting started ).....and i havent had a rest day as such from dieting but have gone over a few times.

it will be good to have one day a week where i dont have to diet....and exercise. do u have this and does it work? does it impede weight loss?

I require myself to have an exercise rest day at least twice a week. I don't do much cardio, just heavy lifting, so the recovery time is essential.

As for my eating habits, if I want something that wouldn't normally be deemed "healthy" I eat it. I move on. I'll fit the rest of my day around it. I find that labeling an entire day a "cheat" day gives it a bad connotation when there is much less guilt and regret letting myself eat what I want when I want.

So far this has not impeded my results.

I'm at maintenance now...the only difference between now and when I was losing is my calorie count. I don't take a break and just eat **** pretty much ever. That's not to say that I don't indulge in "treats" from time to time. My diet is my life...so it has to be sustainable...which means there has to be an allowance for going to the ball game, or someones b-day party, or holidays, bbqs, etc. These are all a part of life...but they are more or less isolated incidences and my diet for the other 80%-90% of my life is right on and focused on getting my proper nutrition.

In RE to exercise, it really depends on what you're doing. I do some pretty big lifting and my program calls for a de-load week every 5th week and then I take a recovery week on the sixth week before cycling the program again...but it's a part of the program and part of the design to help not overtrain.

I think you need to re-evaluate what you're plan is here and what your idea of "diet" is. It doesn't have to be painful, flavorless, or boring...if it is then you're doing it wrong. You should focus on diet as a way of life, not something you start and then stop. Same for exercise...hitting the weight room is pretty much as 2nd nature to me at this point as brushing my teeth.

Rest day is when I'm too tired to work out, I never plan it. Rest day from food is a social event.

I started off with having one bad day food wise a week, and I lost consistently so I have nothing againste them, I just don't really need them, I prefer to just not turn down treats during the week sometimes. WHat ever works out.

I had been exercising every single day, with a rest day maybe once every two weeks. The past couple of weeks I've been resting 2-3 days, but that's because I've been very busy as of late.

I rest from heavy exercise about every three days because I know my body will not want to work out for 5 if I don't... However I at least do light exercise like walking or jogging or playing fun sports every day.

I don't rest from diet- it's a life style not a temporary fix. But I do love my treats, don't get me wrong. I just fit them into my lifestyle the best I can ;)
