Could we all just stop body shaming, please?

I just need to rant, I guess. I am so tired of hearing people refer to themselves as "curvy". Wtf does that even mean? I'm tired of the phrase "real women have curves". I'm sorry, but it's just a bunch of crap.

Every woman and man is real regardless of their weight. Your weight or size doesn't determine if you're a REAL woman. REAL men don't have muscles, either. It goes both ways. I'm just so annoyed by this.

I see threads about people posting what their ideal size is, or their ideal weight, and they shame those who are smaller than their goal saying "I can't stand people that are that small," or "I don't understand why anyone would want to be that skinny".

Or, by the same token, people shame larger women/men. What a fatty! They must be so lazy!

Could we just knock that crap off? Isn't MFP supposed to be a supportive community?

You probably shouldn't let random people on the internet get to you.

That's what happens when you try to cram a bunch of insecure egos onto a computer screen, they explode...

awe youre a sweet soul. I always thought it was silly too so does that mean a transgendered person is not real either? I know why people do it but it's not right regardless.

It was kind of odd to me when I first joined mfp and encountered this sort of thing. But, I guess I learned to look past it for the most part and just focus on the good stuff.

Although, I actually don't have a problem with people referring to themselves as curvy.

Good gifs DO solve a lot of problems, this I must admit.

Right? You'd think when you join a website like this that it would be a much more supportive community.

However, with everyone and their insecurities, and everyone and their egos, it also doesn't really surprise me that they'd go out of their way to mention that this size is just too thin or too fat.

What people do or do not post doesn't affect me or my way of thinking about myself... I'm still going to eat terribly and feel bad about my bad habits and then I'm still going to work my a** off at the gym hoping that counter balances my bad habits(knowing darn good and well that the two don't equal out) and be on with my day.
Yes, this is suppose to be healthy and supportive, but people are people good habits, bad mistakes/judgments and all-can't let this ruin your day so grab a snickers and turn that frown upside down :flowerforyou:

I agree, and I am sick of seeing it everywhere I turn. On Facebook, on here, coworkers doing it... As someone who is really insecure and can't help but care what other people think (YES, I AM WORKING ON IT!! I know I am too old for that! lol) it really does get me down sometimes. I wish it would stop, BUT it isnt going to. So instead of reading the comments and getting myself all worked up ("I'm not curvy enough/I'm not skinny enough/I'm not PERFECT") I just STOPPED reading it, and exiting any thread or ignoring any picture that brings these feelings up. :flowerforyou:

I live by the moto, "People are *kitten*". Nothing anybody says really affects me anymore. Don't expect people to be nice, and it won't affect you as much when they're not.

The internet is merely a place for people from many places and backgrounds to discuss. Talking about something on the internet doesn't make someone's opinion false.

Also, no body shame here! I do not assume anything about someone from what their physical vessel looks like. What's in your head and soul says far more about you.

THIS is my new motto, I love it!

I think that it is a defense mechanism.

People who do not have perfect bodies and people that are bigger get criticized endlessly.

They get sick of it and embrace the positives that they can find.
