Does walking help reduce weight??

I love walking a lot and walk 6 miles a day, 4 days a week. Last week I sweated a lot and noticed a slight difference on the back of my body. I walk 2 times a day, 1 hour each.
Today both the times I sweated very less compared to last week, so I am little worried as to will I be able to lose weight walking?
I even do some strength exercise after that.

Don't gauge the walking by how much/little you sweat. The way I sweat I should be 150 pounds by now. Just keep up the walking. It DOES help!0 -
Sweating does not make you lose weight. Burning more calories that you take in makes you lose weight. Yes, you may lose WATER weight sweating..but that's highly temporary. You don't HAVE to sweat to lose weight!!! I've lost 40 lbs and I walk 5-6 days a week. Oh..and I HATE sweating btw......0

I have lost 50 lbs through walking and watching what I am eating. I have just recently added Pilates. Keep walking! It might take some time but it works.0

That's the only exercise I really do, besides golfing. I should use free weights but don't. If I can't lose weight by diet & walking then screw it!0

You lose weight by creating a calorie deficit. Eat less, or move more, or a combination of the both. So, yes, walking does help0

Yes! Walking helps but like others mentioned, watch what you eat also.0

^^^^ This! You burn way more by walking than sitting on the couch watching t.v. You will eventually need to kick it into a higher workout if you want major changes but walking is a respectable start for anyone.0
