Gym Newbie…Need your Help

As the title says, I’m a gym newbie. I joined Charter Fitness few days ago. But, I have little to no idea where to go from here on and I need some sort of direction.

My main goal is to lose weight. I’m 5’2”, female, weighing 170 lbs. I want to lose at least 30 lbs. to lower my BMI and get a healthy weight. Also, what do you guys think my goal weight should be? I’m basically looking suggestion on what types of exercise I should do and for how long. I’m planning to go to the gym about 3-4 days/week for one-and-half hours. I have been tracking my diet and activities through MFP and FitBit. My food and exercise diary is open to any MPF members, so if you can, please take a look and let me know if I'm on the right track.

Any suggestion/ support are greatly appreciated. Thanks and you all ROCK

Hey :) Not sure if this will help but thought would share!
All your gym work looks amazing! You're so focused and looks like you're doing all the right things...as far as I know! :)

Am a relative gym newbie myself (only been committed really for a couple of months) and found myself plateauing out a couple of weeks ago. I think id just got to a stage where i was comfortable on all machines and new what I could do but didn't push it any further! So I found this routine, in particular cardio workout 3, which has been so good so far and seems to be a strong key cardio focus for my workouts.

You can do it on most cardio machines, which is good to mix the workout up a bit, so Ive tried on bike and treadmill (which were both bearable) and then on cross trainer yesterday (which was hell!!!) Downloaded the podcast too for yesterday's session, and even though the guy is irritating it was good to really push a bit further!

Don't know if will help, but thought would recommend!!

Keep up the amazing work :) You're doing so well!!
    A xxxxxxx

I would start with nerdfitness.com and jefit.com. The former has a lot of good articles and videos explaining exercise and lifting basics, including why certain things are important. The latter has a large library of exercises and workouts broken down by muscle group and experience level, so it's easy to find a good beginner workout that works what you want. Plus, jefit has a good app to track your workouts that links to the website and allows you to download the ones you want or create your own. It saves what you did, how much weight you used, how many reps and sets you did, tracks rest time, etc. It's a convenient program.
