This coming Sunday i have an all day party, barbecue, sweets and alcohol (and lots of it)

As much as i'm looking forward to spending the day with my friends and having a good time, i don't want my weight loss to go of track.

How effective would it be to eat at 1200 calories for the next five days and not eat back my exercise calories and then not worry about what i am eating or drinking on sunday. I just can't be doing with the guilty feeling on monday when i am hungover and feeling sorry for myself anyway.

One night isn't going to cause damage. You only live once and if you don't lose this week there is next week right? Sure have some low cal days before it or even after it if you think you need to or just work out more. You can balance your calories out over the week, it doesn't have to be perfect everyday.

As your average over time is what makes the difference, it'd probably work. Personally, I think I'd feel better if I stuck with my usual calories and worked out more to keep my metabolism up, had fun on Sunday then got back to it on Monday.

Also try a bit of pre-logging of your favourite barbecue food and drink - it might encourage not to go all-out and feel bad the next day.

    That's fine.

If you deficit comes to the same thing at the end of the week then your results would largely be the same.

I would avoid extremes though: very low calories for days on end and then binging your face off but this doesn't seem to be what you are intending to do (unless you do a large amount of exercise.)

I've been doing this lately, because I party at least once a week. Usually I try and save around 200 cals a day throughout the week, so that I can have the remainder at the end of the week/ or in case life happens! I use the TDEE method though so I don't eat back excersice calories.

I think the only problem with this methid is that if you are eating/drinking such a considerable amount in 24 hours, then your scale may not shift for a few days due to water retention and the physical weight of the food.

Also try and make sure your net isn't under 1200, because you won't be able to eat nutritionally enough,

I do this in a minor way all the time - try to save a few calories here and there through the week and keep the exercsie up, then relax a little over the weekend.

Its worth doing a little pre-logging just to help you make the right choices - when you see how many calories a certain food is you may decide to avoid it (or only have a small amount). But in the end one day of total crazy calorie intake is not going to undo your progress- it might even help a bit by giving your metabolism a "Woah, what happened??!!!" jolt.

For me the only good thing about oour awful cold spring (here we are nearly midsummer and still in jumpers :grumble: ) is that there hasn't been the usual round of over-indulgent BBQ - three on the trot WOULD undo my weightloss:ohwell:
