what are your health gains so far?

Options
Hi, I joined MFP in January this year, had a break in April, and back on here in May to get my portions back on track
and lose the last 1lbs.

I had a long list of niggly ailments for the doctor, although I never went! I progressively cleaned up my diet, increased my
exercise and have lost 23lbs this year.

My health gains are:

No heartburn
No pains in tummy where my ovaries are.
No night sweats or other pre/menopausal symtoms
reduced pains in my shins, and reduced varicose vein in one calf.
Better sleep (drastically reduced caffeine)
thighs don't rub

What have you noticed or have better tests for?

I was placed on the pill in conjunction with my weight loss, so some of these are likely the result of both, but still:

My TOM is much more regular and I get less cramping/headaches/back pain than I used to.
The hair on my chin and neck does not grow as quickly as is less noticeable.
My thighs still rub, but not nearly as much. I swear with all this walking my jeans would already have holes in them, but they're not even wearing thin!
I can walk for a long, long time without suffering from shin splints like I used to.
My skin has cleared up dramatically.

My blood pressure is lower (though there is still room for improvement) and my resting heart rate went from around 90 down to the 60s.

My resting heart rate went down from 95 to 65.

I've cut back my diabetes meds from 2000mg of metformin daily to 500mg which is the minimum dose, and my blood glucose is normal in the mid 5s. Would like to get off them altogether soon. If I lose a little more weight and my blood glucose gets into the 4s or low 5s I will start experimenting with cutting it out.

Believe it or not, nothing has changed for the better with my weight loss. All the health problems I've seen doctors about are either still around or have increased, and I have new pains to deal with.

It's great to read others are having success with weight loss = better health. I just wish I was one of you.

95% reduction in ankle/leg pain (I broke both in January of last year. My doctor had essentially told me that I was screwed, since I have a plate, pins, a screw, etc). I can even run and jump.
Resting heart rate down about 20 bpm.
    Much better blood pressure.
    No more back pain.
    No more shoulder pain.
    My knees don't hurt anymore.
I haven't complained about my foot hurting in months (had surgery after tearing my plantar fascia back in college).

I have lost 31 lbs. since Feb. and I don't get out of breath as easy, I can work out longer and harder, my skin is clearer, and I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the weight loss and healthy eating, but in the past the week before my TOM my breast would get so tender but now they don't anymore. Happy for that!

My triglycerides were on the verge of entering the ‘high’ zone due to a lack of exercise before I decided to stop being a couch potato and start exercising regularly again. When I had them tested last November, they were < 45 (I just had the 7 minute Lipid test and it won’t register < 45).

My BF% is in the fitness zone for the first time in over 20 years.

ETA: And for the first time EVER in my more than half century of life I can do push-ups. Real military style push-ups.

I started losing weight before I had any medical reason to do so, but now I have:
    Tons of energy.
Nice skin-- I hardly break out anymore.
    Shinier hair that actually grows.

Great topic! I started again in January because of serious health issues.

    So far I've gained:

BP in February was 131/104 - today 117/81
Resting Pulse Rate February 146 - today 91
    Oxygen level February 92 - today 96.
Lowered the pressure on my CPAP machine
    Less snoring
    Lots more energy
Went from being exhausted just getting out of my chair to just biked 20 miles this morning
Back doesn't hurt when I stand to do dishes
3 of my regular prescriptions dosages were cut in half
I've gained some awesome friends who I may never meet in real life but have impacted my life more then they will ever know.
And I gained my confidence back!
