Going On Vacation!! Advice on how NOT to Slip Up Please :)

My husband and I currently live overseas and we are going to FL and TN for vacation. We haven't been back in the states in a long time and the base we're on is closed so we cook our own food which is easier to control what goes in it. We are excited to have food we haven’t eaten in awhile(sushi, thai, Mexican…). But I am nervous I will slip and gain weight back. Luckily, my husband is into fitness so we’ve looked into a gym or community center to go in the mornings. I want to try and log MFP and we plan to have a cheat meal instead of a cheat day. Has anyone had experience trying to at least maintain while going on vacation? I appreciate some advice or something to keep me on track …I can’t afford to slip up I’ve been losing about 2lbs steadily!

Sounds like you have the right idea - exercise and don't blow it on every meal. Enjoy yourself though!

I've lost weight while on vacation. I've maintained weight while on vacation. I've gained weight while on vacation. All while doing essentially the same things. Continue to diligent track food, pre-tracking as much as possible. Continue exercise routine as much as possible. Drink plenty of water. The only major differences was my weight at the time. Far from goal- still lost weight on vacation. Close to goal- maintained weight on vacation. At goal- gained ( mostly water) weight. Seriously an 8 pound jump after a 10 day vacation. It didn't take long to go away though.

I would look for to maintain or manage your weight while on vacation instead of worrying about losing. Have to enjoy life sometimes.

That isn't to say youe eat with wreckless abandon and not exercise. You moderate the good foods, maybe splurge a few times, and see if you can sneak in walks or workouts if possible. Overall though, in the grand scheme of life, you won't sabatoge your health if you gain a few pounds over several days. You can lose it right back over the next few weeks.

    Enjoy!

just enjoy yourself and have fun. I eat pretty much the same way on vacation as I eat when I'm at home...it's my diet (noun). There's no such thing as "diet food". It's all food...just eat it...practice portion control and intuitive eating.
