Supplements and Synthroid

So I have just read an article on BodyBuilding.com about taking supplements all at a certain time for best results. I run into a problem because I am currently taking Synthroid and it is to be taken in the morning on an empty stomach and then waiting an hour before eating and my Dr said 4 hrs till I can take supplements. I work out in the mornings 6-7AM (I am not a member to a regular gym, I do crossfit so they only have certain class times and the early morning is the only time I can make due to work) Well I havent been taking my vitamins or whey after a workout due to the 4hr wait period. I am wondering if anyone is currently taking Synthroid and on supplements and what your routine is daily, or if anyone can help me figure out a schedule similar to the one in the article just around my times..
wake up 5AM (take synthroid)
6-7AM (crossfit)
715-730AM (breakfast)
1PM (lunch)
730-8PM (Dinner)
930-10 (BED)
Please and Thank you!! )
This is the article.

take supplements whenever you want..timing has VERY LITTLE impact on its overall effect.0 -
I take synthroid every morning and wait to have anything but water or coffee for at least an hour. I space out my vitamins and supplements anyway as a general rule (iron separate from calcium, etc) but my doctor said after that first hour, any other meds or supplements are fine. However, if I workout in the AM, it's usually fasted (it just works better for me) so I dont have much experience taking protein in the morning.0

Make sure your not taking calcium as well until after the 4 hour window....Really coffee and milk are fine.0

That's to necessarily true...
Eg. Taking a caffeine pill after your workout  ????????0 -
My metabolic specialist told me I only have to wait a 1/2 hour after taking my synthroid to eat anything, drinking is not a problem. He said it is due to the fact that I have a partially functioning thyroid. My husband's oncologist told him he has to wait an hour before eating anything (he has no thyroid whatsoever due to thyroid cancer).
As for supplements, I would check with your doctor or pharmacist, they would best know what you should do. I actually take my vitamins before bed because all vitamin upset my stomach and its the only way I can take them.0 -
I started taking my levothyroxine (same thing I think) last thing at night before I got to bed for similar reasons.0

I'm starting to wonder if my doctor lied to me. He knows that I'm utterly crap at taking pills more than once a day but that I'm religious about taking my birth control at night. He told me that as long as I took my Synthroid at the same time every day (right before bed with my other pills) and the tests came out normal, everything would be fine. I've been on the same dose (which is probably higher than it would be if I took it in the morning) for months and my tests are finally in the normal range, so I think it's still working well for me...
But now I'm starting to wonder if I should be taking it like you guys do...0 -
I asked my Dr about taking it at night and he said as long as I haven't eaten anything 4 hours before...I read that research shows Synthroid is more affective when taken at night than in the morning. He said he wasn't sure it was entirely true but did say taking it at night wasn't a problem0

I take my selenium, fish oil, magnesium, and potassium before I go to bed. When I get up, I take my levothyroxine, birth control and vitamin D. I dissolve my B12 losenges under my tongue after my workout, when my body will be zapping through it like crazy.
It's true that birth control pills will make your levothyroxine less effective, but if you take your pills CONSISTENTLY a certain way, it will show up in your blood tests, and your doctor can accommodate that. My doctor TOLD ME that and my uncles (also doctors) agreed. (She told me to take my levo with my bc if I had better chances of remembering to take both, every single day, that way.) Your doctor would probably prefer that you consistently take your meds, than end up with a system so elaborate that you consistently get confused and forget to take things that you need to survive. Unless you're an Olympic level athlete, you probably won't notice a performance difference from taking your supplements before bed instead of in the magic window.0
