Buying used DVDs, beachbody stuff... where do I start?

Ok, ladies and gentlemen! I got Turbo Jam as a gift from Santa (I asked him for it lol) and I loved Chalene and her energy and she didn't seem too completely cheesy.
I struggled through it and by the end of the "schedule" was able to do most of it with a huge improvement from when I started, but I am feeling the need for a change up!
A friend gave me his P90X before I got Turbo Jam and OMG It was more like P90 WTF were you thinking? Just a heads up, I have 85-90+ lbs to lose and haven't worked out in YEARS, so starting with P90X was too much too soon, lol, but I will get there eventually.
anyway, so through a friend at work I'm purchasing from her Slim in 6, Ten Minute Trainer (Tony Horton), and Turbo Fire. I had tried a few Turbo Fire videos I had found online and they have since been deleted (I'm sure copyright reasons), so I know I will love those based on the few I've done, but wondering if I should try something else of the group first? Any suggestions or thoughts? I know I really should do the Turbo Jam again, but right now I am in need of a change before I get to a point of getting bored. I also purchased Zumba a while back, and after doing Turbo Jam it just doesn't feel like the same amount or kind of burn, lol. I LOVE dancing though, so its definitely a nice change when I need to do some cardio only.
Ok, that was long, sorry! any suggestions on which to do next! Keeping Turbo Jam to throw back in there another time because I definitely loved it! I've kinda been in a slump and NEED to get back to it before I lose what good I've done so far!
Also, she said her resistance bands broke? So just wondered if I HAD to buy them or if I could get away with hand weights which I already have, and is there any other equipment I need to buy for those? Thanks!

Have you thought about Chalean extreme0

Yeah, but I figured I'd hit the Turbo Fire before I did that one. I just didn't know if I should jump into another turbo set or try something different like slim in 6 or the 10 min trainer since I'm buying Slim in 6, 10 min trainer, and Turbo Fire from a lady at work.
I eventually want to get the ChaLEAN Extreme set! I really like Chalene Johnson so far!0 -
I am unsure if you bought the Turbo Jam Elite Fat Burning Kit or if you have the Basic Kit (with learn and burn/20 min/turbo sculpt/ab jam/cardio party 1)? There are more Turbo Jam dvds though available, I just don't know if you already have them - but if you feel like you need to change it from Turbo Jam, I would guess Turbo Fire would be the next move up.
I am currently working on both of the turbo jam kits and definitely plan to get turbo fire come xmas time! Have fun!0 -
I like the Zumba. You can actually make it as high intensity as you want, or you could do it at a lower intensity. It's all up to you. I'm with you, though. I get bored easily. In any given week, I might do four different workouts from four different systems. I have Biggest Loser, Tae Bo, Kathy Smith, Zumba, Rockin Body, and various dollar store dvd's. I'm right there with you.0

I guess I have the basic kit? I have the ones you listed (L and B, 20 min, sculpt, ab jam...) I heard Cardio Party 3 is fun, I don't have that set yet, totally forgot about that! I tried Turbo Fire because I saw it online on Youtube and I loved it, so I thought that would be my next venture, then this lady at work had these 3 DVD sets for sale so I am buying all of them, lol. I just want to keep adding to my exercise library! You have fun too!0 -
The fat burning elite program currently has
Cardio Party Three
T3
Cardio Party Remix (Live)
Lower Body Jam
Fat Blaster
I just bought mine through beach body - and that website is f-ed up with its explanation of the dvds that come with the set, but I just got mine a few weeks ago, and those are the dvds i received. (I was just expecting cardio party 2 instead of remix)
Anywho - over all, the fat burning elite is good...but probably not worth the 60-80 bucks or whatever it is. If you feel like you are ready for a challenge - just skip it and spend the money on turbo fire for sure.0 -

I have low back issues, so a lot of the booty-shaking I can't handle for too long, for now. I'm hoping with the weight loss that my back issues diminish. I did buy the Zumba for Kinect a couple of Christmases ago and loved it while I did it, but I wasn't doing exercise regularly (just kinda here and there, wasn't really commited to it then) and I've since moved the Xbox to my son's room that he shares with his soon-to-be stepbrother, and there is NO room for doing the Kinect in there, lol. They don't keep the room clean enough. :P I liked the zumba for Kinect, so I thought I'd buy the Zumba DVDs, but got Turbo Jam for Christmas this past Christmas. I did buy the zumba a couple of months ago when I first needed a change, but ever since doing the Turbo Jam, I just don't feel like I get the same burn. I do admit that I sweat a lot, but my heart rate monitor says I burn less calories on Zumba than on Turbo Jam. HOWEVER, I STILL like doing Zumba because I LOVE TO DANCE! So, I do like to throw the DVDs in once in a while! I haven't gone through all of them yet, though, still working on that!
I just figured with the chance to buy these DVDs from my co-worker at a WAAAAAYYYYY cheaper rate, it would be great to add to my collection of exercise DVDs on the cheap and add the variety I need to keep it going since I work out alone. Where I live in small town USA, there is 1 gym and it is only free weights, weight machines and treadmills, no aerobics or anything. There used to be a Curves but it closed down, and the nearest gym to get all that is 40 minutes away, so I'd have to have at least 3 free hours a day between driving to the gym AND doing the classes, which I just don't have. So, just adding some variety to my DVD collection will have to work.0 -

I got my Turbo Jam set through Beach body also and I agree, it didn't explain it well because I thought it was not one of the Turbo Jam sets for some reason? Maybe I read it wrong... mine also came with bonus of Punch, Kick, Jam, and another video that I found out is in another set also? I liked Turbo Jam, though! I read on many forums that a lot of people liked the Cardio Party 3.
I do want to get the other set that you listed, and I really wanted Turbo Fire because after trying the few with Youtube before they were taken down, I am hooked! My budget only called for 1 workout video set, so I really was going to go for the Turbo Fire, but when my co-worker offered Turbo Fire, 10 Min Trainer AND Slim in 6 for $100 for all 3, I was totally on it!!! I meet up with her Thursday to pick them up! yay for a great deal!0 -
I would suggest seeing what your library has. You might be able to try out a series before buying it. You can also try out different types of exercises (pilates? yoga? kickboxing? tae bo?) to see what you enjoy and see what level you're at. It's also nice because then you aren't stuck with the same tapes for ever. You can check out new ones so you don't get bored.0

I actually did try that....but I live in a very small town (we have 3 stop lights in our entire town) and the next closest library does an "exchange" program with our library... and I can barely find book titles I want to read, lol. They don't have exercise videos. Maybe I could donate my old stuff I don't use and start one!
I have the old Tae Bo Billy blanks on VHS, and an old Kathy Smith on VHS, but no longer own a VHS player lol. I also have a Pilates and yoga DVD that are old and given to me.0
