New tattoo/having a week off exercise. Worried!

I'm getting a new tattoo on Friday (from my thigh down to my knee) and i have been advised not to exercise for a week or so until it has started to heal properly and to stop it from stretching and causing the ink to move.
In the last few months i have got in to such a good routine of exercise and i am really enjoying it so i'm not looking forward to this week/two weeks off.
Will i still lose if i stick to my calorie deficit of 1400 per day?

There are some good upper body workout vids on youtube that you can do.
What does ur tattoo look like?0 -
You'll be fine.
Just stay in a calorie deficit and you'll continue to lose. A week off of exercise never hurt anybody (and in some cases it's just what they need).
Also, I don't see why your tattoo would eliminate the ability to go on a nice walk or a long hike. Those are great forms of exercise.0 -
I have 9 tattos it tatoos and 1 is on my thigh down to my knee.. i only had a couple of days of and i was fine, but if you wish to not exercise them mayb do all uppwer body and no cardio xx0

you have a calorie deficit of 1400? or do you mean your calorie goal is 1400?
you dont need such a large deficit to lose weight, or if you mean your goal is 1400 then yes you should still lose weight regardless of not exercising.0 -

The ink isn't going anywhere once it's in your skin. I've come home after getting ink on my leg and jumped on the elliptical with no problems.0 -
Who told you the ink would move? I have never heard if such a thing. I had a new tattoo done a few weeks ago on a Saturday and I was working out on Monday. You'll be fine.0

I would question any tattoo artist that gives that advice.
The tattoo ink is placed in the dermis, which is the second layer of skin, which is also the most resilient layer. It doesn't "Move", it doesn't cause "blowouts", and it doesn't cause bleeding of the ink.
About the only rules to tattoo care are: Keep the area clean, keep the area someone dry (Don't submerge it), and keep using the ointment until it's finished scabbing over.
(FYI I've gotten about 13 tattoos so far, and 8 of them were while I was in the military, where you don't get a couple of days off from exercise. Never had an issue with tattoo development).0 -
Never heard that rule, thats a new one. I never took a day off after a tattoo and Im at 18, hitting 19 next week. I was however unable to exercise for about a week last month due to a medical issue and with just my defecit alone in calories, I was able to drop a pound. I hope you have good luck both with the tattoo and the continued success on your program. :-)0
