Getting back in the weight loss swing

Hi,
I have always been over weight for as long as I can remember and I have had success with weight loss in the past but I am finding it this time around. My main goal is to change my lifestyle and keep it that way so I keep the weight off.
About 3 years ago I, over a couple of years lost about 40 pounds and got to a weight I was happy with. I could have lost another 15-20 but I was mostly happy with my weight. Shortly after this I started dating my current girl friend and slowly but surely i got back into bad habits. Part of my prior success is that I cut out almost all sweets out of my life. I refused to look at them because I love sweet stuff I went as far to not even go down those isles in the grocery store. My girl friend however is a sweet o holic which caused me to eat sweets (I am not trying to blame her for my personal weight gain but having the influence doesn't help). So, slowly but surely we both started putting on the pounds. So, here I am 3 years later 60 pounds heavier than i was 3 years ago and it depresses me. It depresses me because I busted my *kitten* losing that weight and now I am bigger than ever.
About a year ago we both tried to lose some weight with moderate success. I lost about 20 and she lost about 15 over about 3 months but the weight came back because we went back to our old habits. My biggest downfall for the past year is my college courses and my full time job as they take up most of my time I find it hard to get to the gym before they close at 10 most days of the week and when I can I don't want to because I just want to go home and relax for once. When I did make it to the gym and if my GF would go with me and I wouldn't get a good workout because of previous years of conditioning my endurance is a lot higher than hers and I almost never get a good workout because she wants to leave long before I am ready. I try to encourage her to keep going but she just gives up. I find that when you have your routine that it is best to exercise on your own so you can go at your own pace but that's just me though.
Does anyone have any advice or experience trying to exercise on a limited schedule and dieting with with constant temptation around you?
