Is it better to do knee versions if I can get all the way down, or military when I can only get halfway down?

I think military even if you aren't going all the way down. That way, your core is engaged. Your core doesn't really get engaged when you do knee push-ups. You could also try what is called a 30 degree or 60 degree pushup. That is when you rest your upper body on an elevated surface so that your body forms a 30-60 degree angle with the ground.

Use them interchangeably. One set on your knees, one set military half-way, etc. and keep working your way up until you can stop using your knees.

Thanks! I kind of was interchanging them anyway (mostly to see if I could do real ones yet, or if I'm doing walking push-ups on 30DS it doesn't really work to get down on the knees), but just wanted to see if I was doing a disservice to myself by only doing "half" real ones instead of full knees.

Just try to keep your form good....and you will be surprised ( in a good way) of how quickly you will get strong!!

I am in the military and I can tell you from experience that we in the military do normal push ups as many as we can and then once we cant do the form correctly any more we then drop to our knees. It is extremly important that you get the 90 degree angle with your shoulders and arms and keep your stomach tight and your @$$ out of the air.

To increase our ability to do push ups correctly we do body holds/planks and other core work because the stronger your core the better the push up. Good luck girl!!

Also another tip i forgot to mention is that in the military we also like to do push ups every hour on the hour at work it keeps us energized throughout the day and makes it kind of like a fun contest with your co workers to get you excited about it. You would be amazed at how quickly your body gets accustomed. I started doing maybe 20 total a day and progressed to like 500 push ups a day in a month
