Possible PCOS and Weight Loss?

I've been given a couple of professional opinions that I have PCOS which would definitely explain why I put on so much weight but can't seem to take it off no matter what I do. I can't get officially diagnosed until I have provincial health care which is a while off yet (moved to Canada last year).

Anyone here have any luck at all with finding a decent diet/exercise regime that helps with PCOS? I'm at a total loss here as I've gone through close to five different diets and none of them worked. I even ended up gaining more weight on two of them. Perhaps some have you have dealt with similar situations? I just don't want to feel so alone in my struggle.

Hi, I have pcos and I recently went to see a dietician who said that it is best to eat things that are low in Gi, also to eat smaller portions but more often. It will come off eventually, it does take a lot longer though and exercise is also one of the main things! Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks for the input. A lower glycemic index, huh? I've never even though about that. That's one of the few things I haven't tried. I like the sound of smaller portions throughout the day. Because of art school I fell into a habit of eating maybe one major meal a day because that's all I had time for. The habit is still around and it's really hard to get out of when I only get hungry once a day. ugh.
