Lifting heavy questions

Options
Hi All,

I've booked in with a pt to show me best form etc for lifting heavy - I've always been a gym class kind of girl so this is all very new for me.

What are the important questions to ask? When you weight train do you split your sessions into upper body/lower body?

These are questions I want to ask
What is compound lifting?
What weight should I start at
Correct Techniques?
Design me a programme!

Is there anything else I should be asking/doing? I've just order The New Rules of lifting for women so hopefully I should get that when I"m home

Thanks for the help

:)

You've answered your own question...New Rules of Lifting is great for a beginner lifter who wants to lift heavy.

Don't try to design your own program, go with what works.

New Rules will answer a lot of your questions. What I would ask a trainer is to show me proper form for all the main types of lifts. You can read about it or watch videos, but there's nothing like having someone there to show you and correct anything as you do it.

If you're going after compound lifts, then Starting Strength is a great book to read.
