Hi all,

So, I've been getting some really positive comments from people lately, who have just started noticing my weight loss. It's all lovely, and I can see by the clothes I'm getting back into (and those that are now beyond too big for me, when they used to be small). Thing is, I don't actually FEEL any different! I haven't hit my target weight yet, I want to lose another 7-8lbs to get into the healthy BMI category (purely because I haven't been there in years), and then I'm going to focus on less cardio and up the weights and toning.

For now, though, I HAVE lost a good chunk of weight, my body IS different, and people ARE noticing... Except me?!

Number one complaint from people who get into weight lifting, and it's all over the place on this site: "I wish I had done it sooner".

Absolutely no reason not to get into it now. You already look really good (at least in your profile pic). If you haven't already check out this post

Ah, thanks. I have to confess I did fall into that very same trap as countless others have. I wasn't worried about 'bulking up' because, well, if it were THAT easy then we'd have a lot more bodybuilders in the world. I was just scared that it'd be too hard. I know, I know, ridiculous.

Thanks about the pic. I'll have to take a more recent one that's not blurry!

Not ridiculous at all. Fear prevents us from accomplishing a lot in our lives. Change is always uncomfortable. You know you want to do it. It's in your plan for 'sometime'.

So if you want to do it, but it's just fear holding you back, make a plan to attack that fear. Do you know what lifting plan you're going to do yet? Are you going to follow a standard one or make your own? Get with a trainer or go at it yourself?

Whatever the answers, there is probably a support group here on MFP to help. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups

Go for it! You are stronger than you think :)

I can totally relate to how you feel! I have lost 8 lbs since xmas but has integrated weight lifting as well. Started at about 168 pounds and now im at 160. Cannot get the scale to move in the last 2 weeks, but I've been measuring and I have lots once inch on my belly and one on my hips. The number on the scale is not a reflection of my progress and I am now stronger and leaner and APPEAR to be more like 147 lbs (which I got down to about 6 years ago) I can fit into the same clothes I wore then, and I am 13 lbs heavier. How does that work?
