Healthy but not skinny

I noticed something in most females that want to get "healthy". When they say healthy the usually give the example of someone who is skinny. I'm sure that lots of people on here know that healthy doesn't always mean skinny. This has always been a pet peeve of mine with my generation( I'm 22) or people older then me. I'm 4 foot 10 inches and weigh about 160lbs at the momment, but I would rather go back to my comfy weight of 140 - 145lbs. Surprisingly even at my current size my body isnt any way near as big as others would think. My ribs are able to be felt without pushing in on them. I have little spots like that on my hipbones and other parts of my body as well. That's just how my body is and always has been, just like some people are my height and weight but look signifigantly bigger then me. Some people may think I need to be the size that bmi charts say, but I don't believe that.

I, would rather lose the 20lbs and be able to lift heavy stuff comfortably or run without getting winded for a decent amount of time then strive to lose 60lbs and be unhappy. And to top it off I'm on medication that would make trying to get to 100lbs unhealthily difficult. I just shake my head when people try to tell me what size I should be. I'm happiest when my body is 145lbs because that's when I have the most strength, endurance, and softness. Cuddly and strong, that's my goal.

I agree but skinny doesn't always mean unhealthy.
I've noticed that many overweight people are afraid to go below a weight that may make them appear to be skinny. I'm not sure why. Healthy is healthy.
I'm 5'5" and 126 pounds. My target weight is ultimately 115 pounds. However, I have a small frame so I would look fine and not sick. People always call me skinny even at my current weight. But I can be healthy at 115 pounds. I can also be healthy at 145 pounds.
But again, I agree with you. Whatever works for you and whatever you're happy with is great, as long as you're healthy.

Thank you minerva. I'm sorry if my post sounded argumentative. If it did then that wasn't my intention, if it didn't then I'm glad. I just think that people as a whole need to stop believing the hype that skinny is healthy and thick isn't. Both can be healthy or unhealthy. I have a cousin who is a 00 but is skinny fat, while my body is kind of thick and is still healthier then her.

Now when I say thick I don't mean fat or obese in a way the bodies true shape is messed with. I mean someone who has a naturally "stronger looking" frame like I do. Where the person can be chubby but not truly fat. Does that mean someone chubbier then me can't be healthy? No. I've know people who are thicker then me but have great endurance or are really strong. I think the problem comes in when someones body isn't meant to hold weight. Someone who has a small bone and muscle wise won't look like someone whose bones themselves are actually spread out more. They could be the same weight but one will look fat while the other won't. For example at 145 my rib cage not counting my breasts is roughly 34 or 33 inches. While someone whose not meant skeleton wise to be the same weight as mean can have a ribcage of 36 inches or more depending on the person.
