Prioritizing what to buy/eat organic

I like to post this a few times a year! I talk with a LOT of people about trying to slowly clean up the foods in their pantry. The most listed reason for not eating local/chemical free/organic is "it's expensive". This is the list of the "Dirty Dozen"~fruits and veggies that contain the highest pesticide residuals (systemic--not just on the peels), and the "Clean Fifteen"~fruits and veggies that have the lowest and are safe to purchase non-organic. HTH!

Executive Summary- EWG's 2013 Shopper's Guide to Pesticides in Produce™http://www.ewg.org/foodnews/summary.php

Dirty Dozen:
Apples
Celery
Sweet Bell Peppers
Peaches
Strawberries
Nectarines
Grapes
Spinach
Lettuce
Cucumbers
Blueberries
Potatoes
Green Beans*
Kale*

Clean 15:
Onions
Sweet Corn
Pineapples
Avocado
Cabbage
Sweet Peas
Asparagus
Mangoes
Eggplant
Kiwi
Cantaloupe
Sweet Potatoes
Grapefruit
Watermelon
Mushrooms

I was watching a program on PBS yesterday and they listed these, too. I was just about to go on their website and get the list and here it is. Thank you very much for posting it. This is a huge help to know what is okay to buy that is not organic.

Did I miss it? What are the asterisks for after green beans and kale?
