Hi, Just wondering what other members start weights were for Jillians 30 Day Shred?

I have a lot of weight to lose (I'm still in the 200+ lbs weight range) and was wondering if it was ok to start doing (I should say attempting) the 30DS or should I wait until I lose a lot more lbs first.

I know of a lot of people who finished it who were over 200lbs.

I am over 200 pounds and I tried JM30DS. I was so hopeful when I bought it! Hurt myself the first day and couldn't work out for two weeks! There is a lot of jumping and high impact which is tough on joints. I read the reviews afterward which all said that this is not a beginners workout and if you are really heavy you should proceed with caution. So I would say listen to your body if you decide to do it and don't push too hard. Injuries suck when you are trying to lose weight!

Yep, just started on Monday and I weighed in on Monday at 265. The hardest part for me i'm finding is the jumping jacks on my knees. Otherwise it's totally doable.

    Thanks for the replies.

It's great to hear that people over 200+ lbs are managing it, not so good about the injuries though eek when I had a look at the first level on youtube I thought the jumping jacks may be a problem to me.

I might wait a few more weeks before starting it.

I started @ 240 and also had this issue with my left knee- jumping jacks really made it achy. However, I swapped out jumping jacks for low impact jump rope or punches during cardio and it helped a lot.

Just finishing up level 1 but I'm already seeing results- I was shocked! Hopefully it works for you!

I did 30DS at 240 and was fine. Just finishing up RI30 at 219. It's totally do-able, JM has one of the girls that does modified moves. I have also heard of people doing the jumping exercises on a trampoline. Good luck! I would definately try level 1 and see how it feels to you.

That's a good idea, I have on of those small exercise trampolines. Thanks!

If part of it is too difficult, just modify to make it easier or pick a similar, lower impact exercise to do in it's place.

I agree. I'd start at a slower pace and maybe stay at level 1 a bit longer. In the DVD JM tells people to go slower - that she has people over 400 lbs who can do jumping jacks - at their pace. I injured my knee a bit doing the squat challenge and I am on Day 2 of the Shred. I've modified some of the moves somewhat for my knee.
