strengthening my right knee

so when i was a sophomore in high school i had a skateboarding accident that tore my PCL, not as bad as an ACL from my understanding, but it was still pretty crazy. locked leg brace & crutches for 6 months, and 20 physical therapy sessions.
now this was back 6 years ago or so, i get some pretty bad pain in it from time to time, and if im on the ground and i get up the wrong way i can feel it pop and it almost feels like its about to lock up on me.
i dont even have the slightest clue as to what excercises i was doing during rehab, was to long ago and i didnt care at the time.
just wondering what you guys think i should do, in order to strengthen my knee, i know i'll probably have long term problems in it, but i just would like to be able to run on it for prolonged periods of time, and do squats and other excercises without worrying to much about it giving out on me.
thanks

I would suggest asking a qualified physical therapist this question0

You shouldn't be getting pain from it now - so the advice (above) to get it checked out is good advice. Maybe start with a sports therapist?
One thing to bear in mind is that PCL injuries are relatively unusual (certainly compared to ACL) and not every therapist will have that much experience of this inhury.
I have a complete PCL rupture and my injury was mis-diagnosed three times during treatment and also at a couple of Doctor training session where I was a guinea pig "patient"!
My rehab progressions was:
Straight leg raises, leg extension (weighted pulley or resistance bands), stairs, wobble boards for balance, half squats.
After that I found cycling and rowing great for maintaining quad strength to maximise stability.
With a complete rupture my knee doesn't sit in the normal position and full squats harm not help me.0 -
I agree go and get a treatment plan by a professional.
secondly, what sijomial said about cycling and rowing is good advice, i had a knee strength issue and on one leg i was struggling not to wobble. After getting on the bike and the rower its hardly causes me any issues.0
