Feeling Bloated or Puffy up after Lifting

Is it normal or has anyone else experienced the feeling of being bloated or a feeling of being swelled up after lifting? Day of and even morning after? Is it water retention? I just started a lifting program the beginning of this week and have been feeling puffy and really want to know if it's normal.

Thanks!

Perfectly normal, your muscles are pumped up from working them and also retaining water.

Your muscles are fatigued and trying to recover so they do retain a little more water after lifting.

    Thanks for your replies.

So, is there a way to decrease the puffyness? I drink a lot of water but should I increase the intake?

Also, once I have been at this heavy lifting for awhile, will that go away?

I feel like the Pillsbury Dough woman and my pants are tight. Not hot.

    Define "a lot" of water.

It is very possible to over-hydrate.

Well, a lot of water to me is 64 oz per day. I'm just not a big fan of water. I force myself to drink it and consider it to be a lot because I know it's important and healthy for my bod.
