Question about losing

I've been at this for 7 weeks approximately and I’ve lost 29 pounds. That seems like a lot to me. Is it or is it normal. Is it healthy?
I don’t want to go to my doctor unless I have to. I’m tired of seeing him.

    it's faster than the generally suggested "healthy" rates of weight loss, but I don't know anything about you.

    It seems fast, but if you have a significant amount of weight to lose, its not surprising that you're losing fast in the beginning if you've made drastic changes to your diet. Everything is relative...

    I have my drastic changes and I'm eating any where from 1200-1400 I know my Recomended ia 1640 right now. I can't eat that much unless I'm putting in junk though or eatting all the time it feels like. On some days I can reach 1600 if I've eatting alot of high calorie things.

    My work out calories vary from 300-600. and I'm very large enough that I qualify for surgury and I'm 5'2"

    I have my drastic changes and I'm eating any where from 1200-1400 I know my Recomended ia 1640 right now. I can't eat that much unless I'm putting in junk though or eatting all the time it feels like. On some days I can reach 1600 if I've eatting alot of high calorie things.

    I wouldn't worry about it too much yet then....its likely the losses will taper off after a while (just hang in there and don't get discouraged when that happens...remember its a marathon, not a sprint).

    I'm a bit 50/50 on this. The more weight someone has to lose, they tend to lose faster in the beginning. However, from family experience, it might be wise to get checked out by the doctor just to be sure. My father started losing weight at a decent clip one summer but wasn't overly concerned because he was actively trying to lose weight. Our family doctor saw him one day at church and suggested he come in for a check over. Turns out my dad "turned" diabetic and the weight lost was because of the disease and not trying to lose weight.

    Are you eating back the exercise calories and netting 12-1400 or just the 12-1400 regardless of exercise?

    There are many things you can add to your diet that can add calories and not be "junk" - full fat cheese, milk, nuts and nut butters, avocados, extra tablespoon or two of good oils while cooking, a few extra ounces of lean meat per meal.

    I think you should eat the 1640 and eat back half of your exercise calories. It is the healthiest way to lose the weight forever and if you start adding weight training to your routine (if you haven't already) you can improve your metabolism and burn fat more effectively. Your weight will drop fast at first...even at 1640 calories...so why eat so little if you do not need to. try it out for 4 weeks and see how it goes (we want to learn to eat better for the rest of our lives, right? who wants to live on 1200 calories a day forever?)

    You can add calorie dense things to your day like nuts, nut butters, avocados, steak, etc... to get to your target (I eat junk food every day - today I had a donut, but ice cream and cookies are kind of my thing - in moderation, of course).

    It could be --- although my question would be how much did you lose each week ... my guess would be that you lost larger numbers in the first few weeks and then probably leveled off after that

    also probably depends on your starting weight

    Eat more calorie dense food, it is not hard to get to 1600 calories by doing so.... I maintain currently at 4000 calories a day and have no problem getting there.... I just sat here and ate a 1/2 cup of almonds (360 calories) and drank a glass of 1% chocolate milk (2cups=300 calories) which totaled 660 calories and was a mere snack... Best of Luck

    Pounds per week should be about here:

    75+ lbs to lose 2 lb range
    Between 40 - 75 lbs to lose 1.5 lb range
    Between 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lb range
    Between 15-25 lbs to lose 1.0 lb range
    Less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs range

    You can change you MFP goal .... and it should give you more calories.
