Today is a day of REST for me. I just took a good ole fashioned nap and I feel super energized and great. That got me to thinking about how seemingly easy it is for me to NOT get enough good quality sleep for various legit reasons, also wondering if not getting enough quality sleep/nap/down time has possibly adversely affected y/our weight loss progress.

It may be a co-incidence, but once I started getting a better quality sleep, and purposely taking a day off from the ole daily grind (not just from exercising and watching what I'm eating and drinking daily grind), but life in general daily grind. Just having a day (24 hours) to cool out mentally, physically, spiritually and every other "ally" How making resting a priority is helping me in this battle of the bulge in ways that are so wonderful mere words can not describe. I know in this ultra-distracted and I'm too (fill in the blank reason of being too busy to get some good quality sleep/rest/"chillax as they call it) to make myself take some time to relax my mind, body and soul...there seems to ALWAYS be real excuses and reasons that life keeps me busy and distracted to just STOP and REST regularly--it seems like most people (especially Type A folks like ummm...me :blushing: ) and busy people in general find every "good" reason NOT to just get good sleep and give the daily distractions and attractions of life the boot and shut it down for the purpose of good quality sleep and rest and that leads me to the purpose of this thread.

Have you a sleeping better/longer and/or taking naps success story in losing weight?

Do you find that making yourself take the time and making sure you get a good quality sleep/nap/rest time each day is helping you lose pounds and inches? If so, how'd you do it--how & why you make the time?

If you don't believe getting a good quality sleep is important in helping you take the weight off and keep it off, why not?

Do you take at LEAST 1 day per week to just totally unwind and just refresh/renew your mind, body and soul? If not...why not?

I only started realizing recently how much sleep is important, for weight loss, for general health and well-being in general. I used to stay up til 1 or 2 in the morning on the computer doing work and whatever, but I've been trying to sleep at 12 latest and dim all the lights and don't go on the computer or watch tv for 1 or 2 hours before bed, since light stops the production of melatonin which you need to feel sleepy. I always feel much better when I do this, because your body needs sleep and rest to replenish itself and to be able to function better the next morning. You feel more energized, less hungry, well-rested and you're ready to go. I think a lot of people underestimate the value of sleep in weight loss and in general

I don't know all the scientific facts but I've noticed that good sleep has been helping me immensely

I've been sleeping better since i workout so often...I haven't had any snoring complaints in a long time, which has to mean that my snoring must have gone down considerably.

This is a tremendous issue....snoring. I find that as I'm sleeping better and losing weight, I too am not snoring like I used to. I asked my husband if I'm snoring as much as he said I'm not--that he doesn't hear me snoring hardly anymore at all!

Thank you so much for posting!!!
