Carbohydrates Question

I have a question regarding carbs. Now I know there are simple carbs and complex carbs and the ones to get rid of are the simple carbs. For my day today, I've had 119 grams of carbs. Most of those carbs come from fruit and vegetables. I Only eat 1 slice of toast in the morning, and 1 small pita for lunch. 60 grams out of 119 grams are from these foods. Is this a bad amount? I have 15 lbs to lose. Thanks.

For weight loss, the most important thing would be getting your total calories right.

The complex carbs (including those fruits and veggies, whole wheat bread, etc) are the ones that will take longer to process, with the benefit being that it won't spike your blood sugar and insulin so badly, and you might feel satiated steadier and longer.

I don't think what you said raises any red flags pointing to too many carbs. There is quite a bit of flexibility in the macro percentages depending on who you ask. As long as you are within your calories you'll be able to lose the weight.

Carbs aren't the devil. Just eat a balanced diet. Get your veg and fruit...I personally prefer whole grains and whole grain breads to refined white flour breads, but plenty of people have lost their weight eating white rice and white bread, etc.

Are you trying to low carb? Any specific reason? Medical condition? Insulin resistant?
  • No no reason. I was just curious!! I can't not eat carbs, after all they ARE in everything. I am trying to keep the simple carbs away, though. Simple carbs are things like added sugars, which is bad for weight loss. Thanks for the replies! :)
