MFP saves the day

I have started the 5:2 diet nearly 3 weeks ago and I am pleased to say I have lost 12 pounds so far. Somehow whilst looking for more info on the 5:2 diet on the net I came across MFP and have started using it every single day. What an eye opener! Now I start to understand how I became overweight over the years, although I have been blessed with a fabulously working metabolism and I have never counted calories before.
Today however is a brilliant example for what I mean: I had a very nice breakfast, egg and salmon on toast, a full fat yogurt, a couple or three biscuits, a lovely lunch at the Handmade Burger Co., some cake with my coffee when a friend came round, and a lovely fish stew for dinner. I felt great the whole day but if you'd asked me if I had come close to my 'feast' day (approx. 2000 cals) I would have said I was far from it and I would have easily and without batting an eyelid eaten one or two chocolate eclairs as well...
But...I am using MFP and I knew that for the first time I'd overshot, if not by much...That is not a problem, however it just goes to show how good I have become at lying to myself about how much I actually eat. MFP saves the day and I have the feeling there will be many more days like these.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?
