scarred Sunburn/ cancer

Im 19 and when I was 8-9 I got a really bad blistering sunburn. Ive heard a lot about how that raises your chances for cancer. I still have a scar from it. Im wondering if there is anything I should be doing for it.
I got a burn last august and still have tan lines from it. That's 9 months ago.
I know to be more careful but sunburns happen.

Any advice??

I am fair skinned and have been burned many times in my life. I would not spend time worrying about past exposures, but make an effort to avoid getting burned through sunscreen, clothing and shade-seeking. You can ask your doctor about skin cancer. If you have any strange moles or growths, bring it up to your doctor right away. There are also places that have health fairs that offer free sun cancer screenings.

It is important to think about this. But more in a protective rather than worrying way.

I get yearly skin cancer screenings because I'm ultra high risk. I'd get in for a screening with a dermatologist just to make sure you don't have any lesions, then ask them how often you should come back if you promise to wear your spf 45 every day from ow on (and stick to it). I had a nasty burn or two before my risk increased, but I've never had any abnormal cells show up in my screenings. Best to be safe, though.

It doesn't seem like you have much to worry about. UNLESS you are constantly tanning, that's another story.

You should wear SPF. The key to not getting burned it to keep applying it after every few hours. Also if you go in water (even if it's a sport sunscreen) re apply when you get out.

I wear SPF on face every single day. Not only for the cancer prevention but for anti aging purposes also
