I have a question. For teens; what programming/events would you be likely to participate in at your local library? Same question goes for the young adults? If you are a parent, what would your older children be interested in?

What sort of book clubs, education, games, ect... Please be specific if you can. We are reformating some programs at my work and would love to incorporate some programs for our older patrons.

Thank you for your time:)

I think having movie/book clubs where teens read the book first then see the movie, popcorn provided of course then discuss what the differences were between book and movie and what they liked best. Also some game nights like dance, dance revolution parties, or world or warcraft championships I will try to come up with some other ideas. i am not a teen but i have teens at home

As a teen, I loved book clubs - I love discussing books with people after I've read them!

Our library just got some awesome teen programs. One thing they do is a video game night. I know it's not educational, but it gets the kids in the door. Also they did a movie making program, where a group of teens made their own movies. This Friday is the debut night where library patrons get to view the movies. I don't know how educational the movies are, but it got my teens in the door. They also had a book club where everyone read whatever book they wanted, and then went around the room telling what they liked/hated about the book. I like the idea of reading a book, and then watching the movie. It would be fun to read the new Hunger Game book, and then watch it when it comes out on DVD.

Great ideas! What other types of games do your teens like?

I love these ideas too! Did your library give them video cameras? Or did they take with phones and personal video cameras?
