Should I change my official "weigh-in day"?

Hi,

Currently I weigh myself every day just to check how I'm going and then have my official "weigh-in day" on Sundays. The problem is that since Saturday is the weekend and I'm seeing friends and things, I tend to eat a bit more on Saturdays than other days, or choose things that I wouldn't normally (but try to stay within calories).

Should I change my weigh-in day to a different day rather than Sunday which is the day after my generally 'not so good' day? Would having Saturday as the "official" day be better? I'm just wondering if I'm sabotaging seeing progress because I'm more bloated/fluctuating on Sundays after eating differently on Saturdays.

What day do you weigh in?

Up to you... I weigh myself daily as I find it inspirational, but most people find that too obsessive.
I don't have a specific weigh in day, so I just update when I've maintained my weight for 2 days. It's for YOU and nobody else, so just do what feels right. If you only want to do it once a week, why not make it Friday mornings or something so you don't worry about the weekend?

It all averages out. I weigh in every other week on a monday afternoon. I know the recommended thing is to weigh in in the morning before breakfast, but I meet with my nutritionist on Monday afternoons so that's my regular time. The only thing I do is not exercise before I weigh in because I hold water after exercising and that is something I can control.

I weigh in on a Friday morning - fridays at work are hard coz everyone gets takeaway for lunch, and then there is the weekend where I have the highest chance of having alcohol - this then gives me the whole week to work well to get rid of the sodium and move my butt to get myself in order

If i weighed in AFTER the weekend (Sunday) my goodness I wouldnt feel it was a true indication due to alcohol caused water retention and weekend sodium

If you're weighing every day to check, then you're seeing the progress, right? I understand what you mean - I know a few people who weigh in on say, a Thursday, so they can indulge over the weekend and use the rest of the week to get back on track. It's not something that would help me personally. I think that as long as your Saturdays are not ruining your efforts from the rest of the week, then it doesn't really matter. Chances are, the scale will be a little bit higher on Sunday than on Saturday, but I don't see that it really matters. It's the overall trend that matters. As long as that's going downwards, then it's ok. If it makes you feel better and more motivated to weigh in before your weekend, then go for it! You'll still be losing the same amount of weight in the end.
  • I'm not seeing lots of movement in the scale, but this week I've been maintaining a loss from last week, so I'm slowly getting somewhere. I'm not seeing lots of movement in measurements either, but I'm not sure if that's just my measuring skills or what.

Something must be going right through, because today I had a NSV of being able to fit into jeans I haven't been able to fit into since mid-May. I'm not sure why the measurements haven't changed since I assume they must've done for me to fit the jeans, but either way I guess something must be going right even if none of the indicators are moving very far

Make sure you're taking measurements every 2-4 weeks as well. During my plateau period I couldn't believe the dramatic loss in cm's, which I would have missed seeing if I'd only been focusing on my weight.
