I am currently a sophomore in high school and I have lost a lot of weight and toned up since my middle and high school years. In total from me heaviest (215) to my lightest (126) I lost 89 pounds. Because I lost a ton of weight, I have stretch marks and extra skin all over my body, but mostly on my stomach. I am only 19 years old so I wanted to know if I should try to get a skin removal surgery soon (the next few years) or if I should wait until later in life, like after I have kids. I don't know what kind of stretching my skin will go through later in life and I was wondering what people thought.

congrats on your weight loss. i def think if you plan on having kids,, you should wait. the stretch marks will fade over time, but not go away,,but having surgery soon, and getting preggers later could be counter productive.

First, what a remarkably mature thought process for a 19 year old! I was absolutely terrible at long term planning at your age. Second, as someone who also lost enough weight to have loose belly skin, mine is slowly, slowly shrinking back and I'm 35 so as young as your are it's quite likely yours will, too. Maybe maintain your weight for a few years and keep an eye on it, what hasn't shrunk on its own you could consider having removed. Just be sure to discuss what it means in terms of future pregnancies so your Dr can help you make the best choice. Congrats on your amazing weight loss! Well done! :)

Extra skin will eventually tighten up over time. But the rate/speed it does depends on a lot of factors. Given your age, it shouldn't be much of an issue for now.

I would say wait a while before thinking about surgery.

You're very smart to think about the future before deciding. Personally I would wait. You've still got growing to do, and as you say, having kids is a huge factor. It'll likely tighten up a bit over the years on its own too. Well done on all your loss.
