What speed are you using for calories? I live in a very hilly area. When on flat or slightly rolling hills I am averaging 14-16 mph according to my gps. But around every corner is a lot of larger drawn out hills and I am doing 4-6 mph. Gives me an average of about 12 mph on most rides. Since I'm sure you are burning a lot more calories on the hills what speed do you use for tracking?

I live next to the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas and ride up and down often. I use the moderate, 14-16 mph pace, even though on flats I probably only do 13 mph. I usually have some good long climbs and I figure the work done on those is 'intense' or better.
I think anytime you are riding hard and you are riding hills it has got to be moderate, at least.0 -
Thanks fr your input. That is what I was thinking just based on the level I was exerting based of HR and how hard I work to get over the hills.0
