Hope you are all doing ok...been thinkin bout the team and getting excited for the new year. I am guess 2009 was more of a 'learning' year for me and now it is time to seriously put it all in to action and live it. I have set goals in the past, but have never really achieved them, well, maintained or moved forward. Seems to be a backwards game with me. I am ready to do all that is required for me to get healthy and fit in 2010, and mostly, take each day seriously. One thing that really helped me was planning my meals out ahead of time. My wish for each of us is to gain the focus needed to have success with weight loss and overall fitness. I hope that all of you continue to stay with the Green Team. You all mean so much to me!
Is anyone interested in doing before-during-after pics? Like at 1mo, 3 mo, 6 mo, etc? Measurements at those times? How about posting our activity/fitness goals? Is everyone logging their food on MFP? Need ideas here.
I do not go back to driving til Jan 6, and I understand many of us are busy with the holiday's and work schedules. So, post when you can! Take care and let's bring it in 2010! Let's all be losers this year!0 -

YIPPY! we can do personal goals then, and I like your idea of posting them the day/nite before, and maybe for the whole week....? My challenge for today is to get in 64 oz of water. I have been slacking there, big time! AND, yes, the Team Exercise Challenge!! Should we do minutes again? Great, let's aim for 1000 minutes * this week * push yourselves peppers!! I know we can do this! I will get moving DAILY too!

Hey Peppers!!! Sorry I've been gone. I'm a bad, bad pepper!!! I had my priorities out of wacked during my vacation from work last week. I think eating healthy went out the door on Dec 18 and is just now coming back. I gave myself this Christmas present of not weighing in last week. I don't want to know.... I am back to it this week and I'm hoping that come Friday, I will at least be the same.
Kelly, I think the pic idea is great. A friend and I have been doing this since Feb. I think we've only taken pics 3 or 4 times since we started, but I really like seeing the progress.
I really like the idea of another group exercise challenge. I'm having a very hard time getting myself to go to the gym now that it is always cold. I just want to go home and get under to covers!!! I'm more likely to go if I feel like you guys are counting on my to help meet the group goal.0 -

I am going to try like heck to eat better. I have to get some snacks for the week.......$$$ is tight again, as in we have none. So I am gonna do my very best to eat right this week.

I weighed myself this morning on my scale - not the scale at Curves.
167.25
I was able to walk lunchtime and go to Curves.
However, the end of workday jog was not in the picture. I'm trying to do many many system updates before our system goes down for an undetermined amount of time.
Thus, the last hour of the workday was spendt working. Perhaps on Wednesday.

Ok, so we celebrated the holiday's....and one more coming. Don't beat yourself up about it...it is only 2 days, it's ok. We will move forward. I over indulged as well. So, we all know what we need to do and I think it's great we are all sharing this journey! Last night I was going thru a lot of my paper work, (articles, charts, food plans, etc) from about the last 10 years and I came upon this journal that listed what I had eating. I was thrilled to see that I *have* changed some behaviors, mainly since 2003. Things I am eating less of or have eliminated from my diet now are: lunch meats, processed foods ( frozen chicken nuggets, pizza rolls ), crackers, sugary cereals, white bread, chips and potatoes. The last one is a huge one for us. We are meat and potatoe folks here in Iowa, and now we're lucky if we have them 3 times a month. We eat more of the sweet potatoes now. I was just happy to see some changes. Then, I came across some measurements. WHOA! I really suggest you all do this one. When the scale is not being our friend, the tape measure likely will. Or even a pair of jeans or something you *want* to wear. You will be glad you measured OR took pictures!
Just a reminder that we are doing a ** Team Exercise Challenge ** . Anyone can do this if you want. I just kinda put out there 1000 minutes for this week. It can be any form, aerobic, resistance, yoga, etc. Any movement is better than none! Just log your minutes with your weigh in, And since Friday is the 1st, I'll take weigh in's whenever you want to this week.
I didn't meet my goal of 64 oz of water yesterday. One glass short. After going thru a lot of my diet info, I am a little more eager now to get back on track. I am gonna see if I can do our chart a little different too. I would like to try a graph that actually shows what we have lost. Need to install a program on my pc, so we'll see.

Sassie ~ hi there...I am so glad you are back! I don't know if this will help or not, but I buy whole nuts ( no salt ) in bulk. I get the 3 lb bags at Sam's, and it is like $10 or so. They last a long time. I just measure out serving sizes and bag em up. Fresh fruit and veggies are so pricey, and just in general, all food prices have gone up. It sxxxs!

Wow overslept, DD decided to come in after curfew so we had a heated discussion at 3 this morning. Have so many little thing plan for today. Really want catch up on things while I am out. A little sore today esp, knee so I am def. going to walk but being careful. Well all have a good day!

ok I will weigh in on Friday, Aunt flow visiting this week, should be gone by Friday. Hope shed any water weight till then. I am having so much trouble trying to fit in exercise into my day. By the time I get home have dinner it is bed time. I will try to fit some in before my shower in the morning tomorrow and maybe tonight before I go to bed. I start my second job next week and then it will be crazy until April (work 7 days a week during tax season). I really need to start losing, it is so hard starting over.
Ok appointment next week have to start working harder.
Goals this week :bigsmile:
-drink 8 glasses of water
-log all food
-check in at least once a day
-get at least 30 mins of exercise everyday
-no junk food at all.
ok now sticking to it. I have my fasting blood test tomorrow morning. Hopefully my sugar level is the same and not up. I see the doctor next week and need to show him I am trying to loose.
Kelly have not been very good I dont know how I am not gaining. We shall see on Friday how well I am doing. I did manage to keep 8 pounds off from the last time I saw the doctor. I figure 8 of the 15 pounds he wanted me to loose is not bad.:grumble:

just takin' a lil break from laundry...and oldest son's bedroom..oh, my. the cleaning lady wants to get paid for this job! ugh! you guys are gettin me all excited and pumped up to get going here again! all the positive goals, love it! one thing I want to try here at home is to make a daily check list of the things I am trying to change and put it on my frig. things as silly as taking my Fish Oil capsule to flossing my teeth. I just had about a 400 cal in lunch and my tummy is still hungry. think I need more protein. doing much better on my water today, and gonna be breakin a sweat here soon, an doin' my push up's..this sissy kind...
Jacaue ~ dang them kiddos! gotta love em! hope your knee gets better so you can keep movin'. take it easy on it if you need to. YES!! the exercise challenge started yesterday. I figure if at least 6 or 7 of us can get in 3-4 days of 30 minutes..we will be doing pretty good...and we'll take any extra minutes too! hehe
Sindy~ your *busy* is getting busier! stick to what you are doing and I am sure the scale will start movin'! I'm keepin my fingers crossed for your blood work tomorrow. I think that is waaay good, 8/15 is half. that IS going in the right direction. Look at your goals for this week! It's as simple as that! So very healthy! Let us know how the blood work comes out! well, I walked 30 min w/Leslie Sansone, did 15 push ups, and so far 9 cups water. dh is off now til Monday. we will be going to the city Thurs for my fasting blood ( lipids ) work, out to eat and see a movie, hopefully The Blind Side. I made a yummy salad for supper, and made my own dressing. gosh, it's been so long since I have done that.... why oh why did I ever stop? :huh: I think tomorrow is my 5 veggie day...will be another salad or a veggie wrap. g'nite team!0 -

Took measurements today....so from the 8 areas I have 237.25 inches. Gonna do some serious work on *that* number! Just from the 2 days that I have been eating better I am having results already. Sticking to the clean way with natural and fresh. Need to cook me some more beans for my wraps, as that is my favorite lunch meal. I was over my cals yesterday by about 130...so will try harder today to stay under. Water is ok so far, and gonna get on my treadmill soon for a walk/jog.

Hi everyone -- Best wishes for 2010!
I finally did a Curves scale weigh-in. It was 168.4
I know my home scale and the gym scale is different. I've been using those scales in the past month.
It snowed again last night/early morning here in NJ. More snow is expected for later tonight.
Despite the snow, I trekked out to Curves.
Work has been very hectic this week. Now, I'm off until Monday so time to chill.
For those heading out to festivies tonight, be safe.

Good Morning all
Ok so I weight in at 246.8, which according to the last chart is the same but I did gain a pound last week. So I actually lost a pound but the same according to Kelly last chart either way to me a pound is a pound.. I did 3 1/2 hours of exercise this week. Did not meet all daily goals but am happy that I actually did more then the last 2 weeks. So Happy New Year all and I am ready to start fresh. Lets make this our best year yet!!0 -

Now, I normally keep my salt intake between 800 - 1500 / day. I stayed under my calories even with eating out yesterday, and even tho I didn't exercise yesterday, this is what the scale shows. Is it possible that my food was totally loaded with salt?
And for the month of Dec, wkly weigh in's from the 4th thru the 25th have been: 185.4, 187.4, 188, and 190....gains each week. This is just proof that I am not doing something right. Where did the 70's from Sept/Oct/Nov, even May go, KELLY? I just hate what I am doing to myself. Now, I have been better this week, with eating and exercising....I really want move ahead here and get out of this rut. I have done well with my water intake, and am eating better. Exercise, I did Biggest Loser Cardio Level 1 with Bob, 2 days ago. Holy cow, my rear and thighs are so sore. I tell myself all the time, never, ever to *stop* exercising, b/c this is what happens...all this pain. Gesh! So, I am making some visuals to start this year off. A couple charts for my frig....along with measuring my food, planning meals (prep ahead of time), and having my exercise gear out. Ready for a fresh start with ya Jacque!

I am also trying to figure out a new chart that will show our current wt, as of today, and our goal wt, with a graph that will show each weeks progress. Just need to figure out the program. ** If this number is different than what your ticker shows, I will need an update ** PLUS, I need exercisse minutes or hours for our ** team ** challenge, if you are participating.
Do you guys still like the current chart? % and accumulative shown? I only have a problem when someone doesn't weigh in for the total amounts, but I understand that weighing sometimes isn't possible too. I don't have to show * team totals * if that is ok too.....just let me know what your ideas are.

When I started 2009 I had no idea the changes I would go through. There was no New Year's Resolution to lose weight. That didn't start until later. When I first weighed in on Feb 24, I weighed 273.4 lbs. Today I weigh 222.0, I have lost 51.4 lbs. I've lost 22" over my body. I've gone from 231 inches to 209. Looking back, I'm so glad that I've done this. I can't wait to hopefully finish my weight loss journey is 2010. I have about 52 more lbs and who knows how many more inches to lose. I CAN DO THIS!!!
I didn't weigh in last week, but I'm down .6 lbs from 2 weeks ago. I can be happy with that considering I haven't worked as hard as usual. Today starts a new year and it's time to pick myself back up and start taking care of myself again. As soon as I finish posting this, I'm pulling out the Wii Fit Plus and doing some yoga. I'm starting over with C25K and I'll finish the 1st week this week. Since I'm starting over yet again, my goal is not to repeat weeks 1-3 at all. On the other days, I'll work out with either BL Boot Camp or BL Weigh Loss Yoga (stocking stuffer from DH!). In the past few week I've been very lazy, even on the day I managed to eat healthy.
Kelly, I think the chart looks great and I like your idea on how to retitle each week. I think the best thing to do for an exercise challenge is to have each person commit to so many minutes. Since everyone sets their own goals, we should all be able to meet them. If that is what we decide to do, I will commit to 300 minutes a week.

Just got back from a walk with the dogs, I decided to start trying all the different trails around my area. So I just finish a 50 min walk, feels great.
Kelly- Like all your ideas, I think the changes keeps it fresh. On the Title what ever you think is easier. Now regarding the charts, I love them !! But make them easy for you to do, you are so great for doing this! I really appricate your extra hard work to keep this team motivated.
Crystal- You have done so good, I have only lost 10 pounds, for the year but I had so many bad habits that needed to be broken and 2009 was the year for that. I gave up soda, a major for me from someone who had at least 2 a day. Now I can go days without one. And no longer buy it for my house. I have learned alot about portion control too. I buy healty stuff now. So for 2010 I hope to lose alot more but as Kelly said, one day at a time0 -

Crystal ~ you have done so well, and should be very proud! I am so happy for you! gosh, you are 1/2 way! wt lost and inches off you! take a bow!! I am starting C25K as well. I agree with you on the exercise challenge idea. Each person should set their own weekly goal. We can root each other on to get to that goal......I need the encouragement too, as I realize that regular exercise is the only way I will maintain my wt loss when I finally get to goal. It cannot stop there. Exercise, it has to happen, and only I can do that!
Jacque ~ You hit the nail on the head. Small changes really do add up. These darn habits are real battle to win over some days. We just need to decide to make the right choice and if we don't to learn from it. I believe in you and know you can do this! Let's have more 'healthier' days then bad in 2010!
