OMG, I cannot get past the weekends without just blowing it.
I am the only one in my family that needs to really watch my calorie intake.
So weekends are really, no EXTREMELY hard.
I don't know how to get thru the weekends.

1. Portion control
2. Pre-log your food, if possible. I find it easier to stay within goal when I give it some thought ahead of time.
You can do this, you just have to want it badly enough!0 -
wknds are tough for me because ym friends and I like to go out so booze=making bad food choices0
-
I'm with you! It's Pizza Galore on the weekends...huge brunches...lots of food and junk everywhere. I almost am always over, which makes me kick it in gear a little bit more on Monday to make up for the lapse.0

The bbqs and beer are kicking my *kitten*. I totally feel you.0

i get through them by doing more exercise. more free time means more time to get out there and get moving. i do eat a bit more on the weekends, also, but not more than the additional exercise requires.0

This^^ but replace beer with wine : (0 -
I struggle with weekends too. For two reasons actually - first, my sister & I work out together in the middle of the day during the week (we work together) so it's hard to get a workout in on my own. Second, my husband is not making any life changes at this point (although he really needs to) so he is always pushing to go out to eat. I've just had to be very firm with myself; if we're eating out, I stay on track no matter what. It's tough! But, at the end of the day, I want to be healthy and feel good about the choices I've made so it's important to me.
Try going into the weekend with a game plan - know what you're planning to eat and how much workout time you'll be putting in. Then, don't compromise those things!0 -
Nope, I rock M-Thur. sometimes on Fri., but Sat. and Sun. Kill me!
You can't "portion control" beer...it takes all the fun out of it!0 -
Same here. Try to work out some more to "buy" yourself some extra calories to spend. Also try to make yourself something you REALLY like, bonus points if it makes other people jealous, and eat that in place of some of the bad stuff. A beautiful salad or yogurt with fresh berries would do the trick.
Everyone knows that pizza is bad. I went for it since I had such a light breakfast. Later I realized that the three pieces I had (they weren't that big!!!) added up to 900 calories :noway: Damn... Wish I had had 1 and a salad... Probably would have felt fuller too...0 -

I'm with you on the wine!!! Damn summer and nice weather and BBQs and sitting by the pool!!0 -
I made my weigh in days on Monday so it helps to keep me on track on the weekends. When Im reaching for that extra piece of chocolate or bag of chips I keep remembering that I have to weight in soon.0

I do the same thing.0 -
Do things to remove yourself from eating situations. Go to the park, take your family to the zoo, go swimming. Do anything active! Then you can burn up some calories and have fun.0

I ruin myself on the weekends too--when I am around other people all day (weekend), I tend to follow their eating plan which is usually not as carfeful as mine. I have been thinking about creating a meal plan for the weekend, allowing myself one cheat, but trying to stick to it. Maybe that will help you too? Another thing I've been doing is weighing in on Monday--it makes me VERY accountable for what I do all week and weekend, so I know whatever I eat on Saturday/Sunday may sabotage my whole week which makes me be more careful.0

This^^ Weekends are a great chance to go hiking, biking, swimming, you name it!0 -
Sunday used to be my rest day for exercising and I had to switch it to Monday so I could get out of the weekend without a gain. It was the only thing that worked.0

...same problem here...0

Workout more on weekends.0

Couldn't say it better myself! Beer and BBQ's kicking my butt!!!! Wake up on Mondays pissed off mad at myself and then back on track!0

The alcohol, the bad choices, the parties, the lack of options, the lack of pre-logging or pre-planning. I go into the weekend and begin each day of the weekend with absolutely great intentions and then I either run out of calories too early in the day or I don't log until I'm already 3 brownies deep. Oh, I lose it so bad and have been saying for months that I need to stop it.
How do I turn intentions into actions?
Planning.
Now I just need to turn this knowledge into actions.0 -

I HATE WEEKENDS TOO
I so agree that preplanning is critical,
for me there is an element of need to reward myself for the sacrifices of the week, you know I deserve this .....
so for me this is my plan, come friday I am going to rejoin this thread and if necessary report in hourly and really squeeze some control out of myself,
that means some serious rewards the do not involve food, it will take the entire week to think about what would give me the same feeling,
I would love an massage, cannot afford it, husband not the massuse type,
shopping for anything is a drag,
too hungry for long walk on the beach,
bubble bath, no,
I will give myself a good nap, that should so for an hour or so,
when food has been my best friend for my whole life it is hard to replace,
will think now,
btw thank you for starting this thread0 -
some really good suggestions here.
I definitely will have to put in some excercise time. I don't normally exercise on the weekend because I have so much to do, cleaning, laundry all that good stuff. During the week, I am so much more controlled.
SO I am going to try :
1) exercise
2) pre-planning
I will start here. AND I also am going to watch this thread.0 -
I'm right there with you. I can be great all week long and then the weekend rolls around and I have absolutely no will power what so ever. I feel like I'm the only one in my family as well as friends that struggles with weight issues!!! I am going to have to develope a stonger backbone to stay away from the bad stuff... I need help, too!!!!0

I find weekends tough as well. Especially summer weekends. Unexpected guests, heading out with friends, or just plain 'ol chillaxin days at home. And then there's the kids! They need more healthy calories, I do not, we have different metabolisms. They can all wreak havoc on health and fitness goals.
Once in awhile I have what I call 'Faterday'. Usually once a month at most. Take a day to eat whatever you want. Just ONE day... You have to be disciplined with this idea. The following day get out and do something physical. You gotta break a sweat! Gotta have a plan. Funny enough, I find I tend to eat better anyways because I don't keep junkfood in the house. I have to go out and get it. No temptations at home.
I also menu plan on a two week basis. Nothing complicated... Mon-fish, Tue chicken, Wed.pasta, Thurs, fish. Fri. chicken, Sat beef, Sun beans/legumes...you get the idea. Then I add whatever veg I desire + a salad(mostly greens) with every meal. Having a guideline, a plan, and a new way of thinking about food can make a huge difference. Think about all the new yummy, healthy, life extending foods and activities there are out there to try! Think about how you can share these things with the people you love! Think about it as a whole new world of discovery, an adventure for you and your family.0 -
Well this weekend was no different than any other. I failed miserably!!!!!
So I have to bust my butt (literally) to get back to where I was on Friday morning weigh-in.:explode:
This is my biggest goal, TO CONQUER THE WEEKENDS!!!0 -
Its hard for me on weekends and travel time..so tough to go over. I like the tip about prelogging food and doing more excercise.0
-
I agree weekends are also the hardest for me, my family eats what they want and i don't keep as busy as i do during the week at work so i eat out of bordem and stress with family issues and just have the ability to eat more, i blew it this weekend but i'm back on track today, about the best thing i can say is no matter how much you blow it on the weekend, don't beat yourself up, just start again fresh on Monday and hope for the best for the next weekend, that is the advice i have to give myself on a regular basis0
-
Man you said it right! My weekends kill me, during the week I do pretty well most days. Friday night and Saturday are my achilles heal. I do like the pre logging and until I read this string I'm pretty sure the reason Sunday is better is that I plan my meals most Sundays, so I'm going to try that for Saturday also. Great conversation, thanks everyone for commenting!!!0
