Nutritional Yeast?

I've recently heard about it and was sold as soon as I heard some brands contain B vitamins, including b12 - lord knows I need more vitamins and energy lol

Question is, what the hell do you use it for? What do you put it on/in?

Would love to hear some ideas/recipes/whatever you got.

Thankies!

Love and Alohas,
Ihilani Kapuniai

Well, I use it because I can't have dairy. I use it as a cheese substitute because it tastes a like parmesan cheese. I was surprised at how much I liked it.
There are tons of recipes out there, mostly vegan.
They might have it in the bins of the health food section in your local grocery store.
You could google some recipes and buy a 1/4c and give it a try.

I've seen it used with soups. I have not tried it myself yet.

I use it in a vegan lasagna recipe to get a cheesy taste.

I was reading a blog last week and the writer used it to bread meat.

"The Nutritional Yeast Cookbook"....found it on Amazon. I use it to make "cheese" sauce, sprinkle it on toast, well, I sprinkle it on almost everything. And my cat likes it on her food too!

You can also make a "cheeze" sauce for a fake Mac and cheese or use with Shirataki noodles or on eggs as eggs benedict type thing....it is yummy!

    Love it on popcorn too!

I make cheesy sauces (gravy, queso, etc.), sprinkle it on tons of stuff, mix it in smoothies, and so on. If you google nutritional yeast recipes, there are tons of great ones. Vegan cookbooks also use it frequently. I love it!

It is so delicious. As everyone else said, use it in place of cheese. I love it sprinkled on broccoli, cauliflower, etc.

Thank you all! Been hearing a lot that it tastes like cheese, so I put some on my beef stew last night and it was actually pretty damned good!
  • I like it. I bought it initially to use in this http://www.shineonraw.com/tasty/raw-foods-recipe-raw-alfredo/ and now use it in all sorts.
