Knee High Boots

I have always said that regardless of my weight, I have fat calves. It will be interesting now that I am actively changing my body what will happen to them.
They are decreasing in size, if slowly.
Since college (even before they were in style) I wanted knee high boots. We always want what we cannot have. So we are talking 15 years now.
Knee high boots is one of my "goals" on my profile and now with me slimming down and fall approaching, I am getting excited.
At a friends house this weekend, I tried on hers (she is also a size 10 with a wide calf) and they zipped!!! It was awesome.
I have known for some time that my hubby does not like the knee high boots. He thinks they are unattractive and very few people can successfully pull them off (even the super skinny girls). He does not like the look of them. (sidenote: hubby is normally super supportive and my biggest fan in my weight loss journey).
When I told him about my recent trying on and how I was looking forward to fall shopping, he gave me the stink eye and said, if you get them, then he will not wear the new cool jeans I bought him (the non-Dad jeans but not quite skinny jeans) that I think he looks like a hotty in.
Ugh.
Thoughts? Am I being silly for wanting these?

I think there is a way you can get your boots and hubby ends up happy. I say shop around for a boot that you both will like. There are the plainest ones, nicknamed riding boots which I love. They tend to be flat and resenble boots horseback riders wear. You can also go for knee high boots with heels. Block heels or even more stiletto looking ones. You can even change up the toe to a round, square, or point. There are also boots with prints. I have a pair that are similar to a patchwork sort of thing.0

My sister and I were JUST talking about this. She thinks her hubby looks like a 70-year from behind because he insists on wearing jeans from Costco. She can't convince him to wear something cooler and more flattering. My sweetie convinced me (with some whining) that I should buy a leather jacket and I love it now. But, he really doesn't like my cropped jean jacket. So I try to save the jean jacket for times when I'm not out with him and wear the leather one when I'm with him. (If I'd only forced the issue and had him get that Hugo Boss shirt that was 60% off! ERGH!!!)
As for your boots, I say do one of two things, or both:
1. Get ones that are slightly lower than the knee but still rock your world.
2. Get the ones that are everything you want even if he doesn't like them and wear them mostly when he's not part of the event, e.g. girls' night out.
OR, I just had another thought....
3. Introduce them to hubby with nothing else on, rock his world, and he'll love those boots. LOL!

Love love love responses especially the last one! What a great idea (and the girls night out idea too)!
PS--Hubby's old jeans were so Costco special!!!0 -
Oh, and I said knee high but i really mean like the upper calf high, but that just sounds weird.0

My husband bought some cost-co jeans. Ugh. However, he does like to look nice for me, so there is that.
He'll shower and I'll get some jeans out for him. hehehe.
Boots - ladies night out. win-win! My daughters have stick legs, and it's hard for them to find boots that look nice!
If you're typically going to wear them in the winter, I suggest taking ski socks to try them on so your feet will be warm with out a pinching tight fit.0 -

Tight fitting knee high boots aren't really "in" right now anyway. I agree with a previous poster who said look for riding boots, which are still knee high but not skin tight on the calf. Ankle boots are more popular, but I always fall over when I try to wear those lol.0

Really? Upper calve high? THATS not bad at all! Mom my, she is around 45 now I think, just bought a pair that have a little hill on them and they are CUTE on her! She wears them with dresses and those "one size fits all" dress/skirt she loves to wear.
I'm a little confused why your husband wouldn't like them, you aren't talking about "Pretty woman" boots are you? (Even if you are- Rock on girl if its your dream go for it!) He should support you- so I say BUY THEM, maybe give him a show with only them on and see how he likes them then.. lol
My boyfriend doesn't like some of my styles, but who cares? honestly If I feel comfortable in them, I wear them- like for example I used to wear these sweats that I had cut off right below the knee to make capris.. lol he HATED them.. but I honestly LOVED them. So I wore them.
He doesn't like the type of underwear I wear.. So? I have to wear it all day, get over it. Lol
ALOT of people don't like my jean jack (I'm wearing it in one of my profile pics) But I think its CUTE with my dresses and skirts... So I say oh well. Wear what you like.
Buy the boots!0 -

Ha! No. Not the pretty woman style, just the type everyone seems to be wearing these days. Probably in brown.
OK...so I know I am not Cameron Diaz, but something like this....
