HELLO VANCOUVER?

I've moved & lived across Western Canada the past few years and just accomplished one of my life goals.. living in Vancouver!

Unfortunately, being very new here.. I don't know many people and know squat about the beautiful city I'm in and it's surroundings!

Where the Vancouverites at!?

What places would one recommend to visit & see.. whether it be landmarks... or to be active!! Such as hiking, beaches, etc.
Any good restaurants that are known to be holistic, vegan, vegetarian (although I do eat meat)?
Any markets or shops that's decently priced for produce and healthier food options?

Any input is very, very appreciated. New friends are always welcome!

I don't live there, but I have a friend who does and he has mentioned several times that Lions Bay has a really nice beach.

Although I no longer live in Vancouver, I did for seven years. Depending on your taste, there are ample fun activities. If you haven't already gone to Capilano Suspension Bridge, that's a great one... and it's on the same road as the gondola to Grouse Mountain which brings to one of the mountains overlooking the city. The view is simply breath-taking! If you're feeling particularly strong for hiking, there is a popular trail called "The Grouse Grind" where you climb up that same mountain, have lunch at the restaurant in the clouds and then take the gondola home. Depending on your level of fitness, the Grind takes between one and two hours.

Food-wise, there's a wild variety of restaurants. One of my favs is called "Cravings" just off of Marine Drive close to the Oak Street Bridge. Another destination that combines food with fun is the Grandville Island Market... http://www.granvilleisland.com/public-market/

Seriously, tons of stuff to do in Vancouver!!

I've lived here in Vancouver for my entire life and I absolutely love it! I cant imagine living anywhere else. If you want to do active stuff there's lots of hikes in the mountains. The grouse grind is a good challenge and easy to get to on transit but it's about an hour and 20 min of intense stairs. If you like more trail hiking you should definitely do the Chief. You can jog along the sea wall which is nice and flat too : ) Commercial drive and Granville Island are very lively and cultured places to go for good produce and exotic food but it's a bit more expensive. A GREAT restaurant to eat at is called The Twisted Fork on Granville Street or if you like vegetarian food you have to go to the Naam on 4th and McDonald. Also if you're in Vancouver in the summer there's lots of free outdoor movies in the park and free dance lessons in Robson square on Friday and Saturday evenings.
    Hope this helps! : )
