High 'energy foods' please advise

Hi there, got a big workout tonight and wondering what 'high energy' foods you can recommend (except bananas as cant stand them!!) also how far before workout should i eat them? Thanks for your time!

    Nuts/coconut are very high in energy :)

    Dried fruit (sultanas/dates/apricots etc!)

    Well you need foods high on carbs if your workout is gonna be intensive. Too bad you don't like bananas, they're my favourite morning pre-workout fuel :) So your other options could be oatmeal (I eat oatmeal almost every morning with my protein shake), energy bars, almonds, pasta, lentils, energy gels, it really depends on what you like.
