I had one on my wrist for years. A chiropractor friend finally told me what it was and suggested the "hit it with a book" approach. I just bit it and it promptly went away, lol.

I had one on the inside of my left wrist for a long time as a kid, but it went away on its own. My mother didn't want me to get it drained because she'd had one drained as a kid and didn't want to put me through the pain. So... I guess it hurts to get dealt with.

I've had them. I'd hit it with a book and it'd go away. It came back a few times but it's been gone for over 10 years now.

I had one removed from the edge of my left wrist in 2010 - it was growing and was hurting me to type or do anything. The surgery was easy, but I had to wear a brace up to my elbow for two weeks & that was as painful as the cyst was.

Yeah girlinahat - my doctor won't remove it - nor drain it - nor hit it. lol.

He recommended leaving it and if I really wanted something done he wanted to refer me to an orthapedic surgeon - he said I'd have a general anesthetic.

But that's all too much for me.

So although I'm not happy, I'm leaving it alone for now.
Go see a hand specialist, a GP will never want to do anything for something benign and cosmetic

I've had one on the back of my wrist for 10+ years. It gets larger and smaller - probably based on use of my wrist, but only bothers me when it's particularly large (which hasn't been the case for a long time).

I'd rest your wrist for a little while to see if the pain goes away. If the pain continues go to the doctor for treatment. Unfortunately, after treatment, it's not uncommon for them to reappear.

They're annoying, but at least they're harmless.

My mom is a bodybuilder and she developed one. It just kept getting worse and worse. I would recommend going to the doctor sooner rather than later.

She had to get cortisone shots in hers. Ouch!

I had one a few years ago on the back of the hand right above the wrist. Doctor said to just wait it out with surgery being the next option to drain it if it didn't go away. It went away on its own in a few months. No book necessary

Same here. I had a very large one on the inside of my wrist. It eventually shrank, but there is still a hard knot about the size of a pea in that spot. Not sure what that's about, though. I currently have one on the top of my right foot and on the top of my left shoulder next to my collar bone.
  • Had one doing lots of pushups. Went away after I wasn't doing that when I hurt my back. Saw the Dr. and they wouldn't remove it. I just decided to name it. Fred will be back when I start doing pushups again.

I did, on the top of my wrist. My doctor did the book method for a while but I eventually had to have it surgically removed.

I had/have one on the back of my left hand who came back twice (same spot). My GP refered me to an orthopedic surgeon on both occasions. (I have a nice little scar to prove it.) And I think that it's comming back for the third time now (sigh) It's just in hiding but I can sense it. The cyst doesn't hurt as such, but the reason that I want it gone is because I feel that it has no business being there. At first glance it looks as though someone broke my hand and that the bone is trying very hard to make it's way out though the back of my hand.

FYI : I asked the surgeon who has no ulterior motives about the book method, he said: I don't recommed it, neither draining it yourself because of the risk of infections. (Healthcare in Denmark is free, I didnt pay a daim for the operations)

I had one removed via surgery about 13yrs ago, due to it causing issues with tendons.
