I have a question about breast feeding- not for me a friend of mine. I helped her figure out her BMR etc.. but how much extra does she need because of breast feeding ?

You burn an extra 300-500 calories a day breast feeding I believe.

My wife will put in 550 calories worth of running everyday in the exercise section. She put a lot of time and research into getting that data. So I hope it’s right0

500 calories if the baby is still exclusively breastfed.0

That sounds about right. Also, tell your friend not to get too discouraged with her weight loss. For some women, breastfeeding just melts the pounds away. Not me! I breastfed both of my children an average of two years, and didn't really lose the weight until they were weaned. Within one month of weaning, I lost fifteen pounds, without changing my diet or exercise. I believe lactation hormones keep you a little more 'padded', so your body isn't stressed too much by breastfeeding.0
