If you're a size 12 or 10 please help me!!! :)

I am currently a size 14/16 and my first goal is to wear size 12 jeans and then (fingers crossed) size 10. I've looked online and I'm coming up short so I figured I'd ask all of you :)
If you wear a size 12 or a size 10 PLEASE help me out- would you measure your hips for me- To simply have a goal of wearing a smaller size is nice but I want to know how many inches I need to lose off my hips.
Thanks!!

I never thought I'd put this out there but.....................I wear a size 10 pant (although some of them are starting to feel slightly loose--Yay!). My hips at the hipbone are 38.5 inches, and if I put the tape measure around the biggest part of me (my butt), it's 39. Hope that helps. Also, If you go to the Lands End website (www.landsend.com) and then navigate to their size guide chart, you'll find a lot of helpful measurements.

As far as pants, women's clothing manufacturers are so inconsistent, and pants' shapes are so different (low rise, traditional fit, curvy fit etc.) that not all size 10s fit me. Hope that helps.

Should have added that the above refers to US sizes.

    Hi.
Not sure if this would be of much help.. but different brands have different fits due to "vanity sizing"
an example would be my friend fits perfectly in a size 10 GAP jeans but she has to wear a 12 for Topshop.
why not you try a pair of jeans/pants of your favourite brand? It might give you a general idea on how many inches left to lose?
    btw heres the general measurements;
    UK Sizes (inches):

    Size 12: 29
    Size 14: 31

I have the perfect tool for you! Just put in measurements to this site and it will return what size you are in more than a dozen brands. If you play with it a bit, you'll be able to see what measurements will work out to those sizes.

I must be oddly shaped, but at a 12 my hips were 42, at a 10 my hips were 41.5. Now they are 38in and in a 6/8. At a 16 my butt needed it's own zip code but my stomach was flat. Now, at goal, my butt is at least 1/2 of what it was. I just have very wide hip bones...I'm also 5'11 so built solidly...

People's bodies are so different and women's clothing sizes are not consistent, so giving a hip measurement wouldn't be of much help. You just have to try on size 10s as you get to that size. I ordered a pair of cropped size 10s that wouldn't fit over my hips, sent it back, ordered a different pair of size 10s and they were loose on me. Hard to tell.

I wear everything from a 6-12 depending on brand so honestly the best thing to do is just go to stores and buy the size that fits and don't worry about how many inches you need to lose.

ok I must be broken, I tried this website and it said I should wear a 10/12 :grumble: ... Most my pants are size 3. I am 5'9 so I am guessing this dosen't take height into consideration. I agree with the other girls I can wear multiple sizes depending on the cut.

I think some of you are confusing UK and US sizes!

    A UK size 8 is a US 4
    A UK size 10 is a US 6
    A UK size 12 is a US 8

    and so on.

    I'm a UK size 8, and my hips are 33.5", I think.
