Found a trick that's keeping me on track!

I'm weighing myself every morning no matter what! NO MATTER WHAT!! And much to my surprise it's keeping me on track and helping me to tackle the nighttime eating pattern that's been my biggest downfall in weight gain issues.

That's great! I wish I could find something to keep me on track. Night time eating is definitely my biggest down fall as well, I can control myself fine during the day, but then at night everything goes down hill, I get such bad cravings at night!

I weigh myself almost daily. Just keep in mind that the scale can fluctuate a LOT and don't get down on yourself about it. Right now I'm up 1.5 lbs from my last weigh-in, but I know that it's likely to be water weight due to either not drinking enough water or tearing up my muscles with a new workout. Probably both.

It really doesn't matter if you eat at night - it is all about total calories consumed versus caloric output. I don't eat breakfast, but eat every few hours until about 9 or even 10 at night. If I keep counting calories and stay within my limit, then I still lose weight.

I also keep several packs of Extra Dessert Delights gum for those days when I just NEED sweet stuff. :)

I agree - I weigh myself first thing in the morning and last thing before I crawl into bed. I'm not obsessive about it but it does help me keep on track, as long as I keep the daily fluctuations in mind.

I agree....I weighed myself every single day when I initially lost 55 pounds over a 1 year period, and maintained when I weighed every single day. I put 25 of it back on slowly over the course of 4 years when I quite weighing in every day.

I weigh in daily again, and the weight is slowly coming back off. I agree, it does help me to stay on track better.
  • I weigh daily too although I only really track my loss once a week or so. There can be a lot of fluctuation throughout the week, heck, even throughout the day but I like to see the downward trend.

I weigh daily, too. I like seeing the trend, plus I gained 20 lbs without even noticing by not weighing every day. I need the constant reminder of my weight - I don't seem to fluctuate too much . . . about 1-3 lbs throughout the day.

I don't think it's bad to eat at night as long as it's within caloric limitations. My problem has always been that I don't know when to quit at night and enough is never enough.

I'd be afraid to weigh myself every day - I think I'd put too much, um, "weight" (haha) on what the scale said. If I seemed to be going in the wrong direction it would mess with my whole day, emotionally.

You daily weighers must have some really precision scales, as well!

Makes me OCD. Rather stay weekly

I recently purchased a new scale just for this very reason, I know i have too. Recently we had a health fair at work and found out I was 20 lbs more than I had estimated, and at my highest weight ever. If that didn't kick me into gear, I don't know what would have..

Needless to say, I never want to allow that to happen again.. I need a scale.
