I am looking for a low cal alternative to rice. i love rice dishes and i like alot of rice but it always puts the cals way up. is there any thing in the uk that could be a lower alternative to rice? ive tried cauliflower rice and that went down well but didnt give me the 'rice taste' that i love.
thanks!!

I use cous cous quite a lot. Quicker to make than rice and very filling/higher in protein0

I use quinoa a lot. I like it. It's also much quicker to cook than rice is.0

Also, I like pearl barley, but that takes quite a while to cook.0

Quinoa has a slightly nutty taste and a nice texture with a little crunch. Make sure you rinse it in a colander before cooking it because it has a natural saponin coating which can make it taste soapy. I love it with a stir-fry.0
