LOL
That gets me into trouble in a whole diff way. I cannot eat them, it's horrible. I get horrible gas, icky tummy and basically spend my days in the bathroom. And I'm sad, cause the oats and chocolate bars are literally orgasmic. My hubby has the same issue, but my daughter can eat them.
I don't have issue with fiber in general. After reading the ingredients, we discovered that the bars use Chicory Root as a fiber source, I wonder if that just doesn't agree with me.
But damn...they're soooo good0 -
I used to work for the company that makes those, and that got me into trouble once too.
I ate two of them back to back and almost had to take the afternoon off.
They should really call those things:
"Fiber Number Two".0 -

lol yeah- they had me feeling pretty gassy yesterday too- actually the past few days, I was trying to figure out what I had changed and was so upset when I realized it was these...b/c they are HEAVEN in my mouth....so I have to cut them down- bummer.0 -

"Fiber Number Two" Hilarious!
I found a blog when I was trying to decide if the Fiber One Bars were healthy. I was rolling on the floor laughing at that guy. His wife gave him one and they were so good he ate two. He was stuck at school taking an exam and couldn't leave. You should go read it, if you can find it.0 -

I have this exact same problem with all fiber bars/fiber cereal, but not with natural fiber sources (pears, whole wheat breads, etc). WEIRD.0 -
I have never had those and after reading ^ reviews I think I will stick with my other work stash items! LOL
Stay strong and don't overdo it.0 -
hahaha yeah- they sit better with some than others.... I used to have baddddd a bad work stash though- bagssss of chocolate hershey kisses, triscuits (+a bottle of the squirt cheese) among other things- at least these are semi healthy. LOL0
-
at least these are semi healthy. LOL
In what way?
Oh, the marketing says so.
Let's make some chocolate sugar and bread bars and call it "fiber".0 -

hence the word SEMI... not everyone has to agree- but they are low calorie count, have a good amount of fiber . They're healthier than what I WAS snacking on- whether you agree or not. *shrug*0 -
I eat those for my snack every day! I stay under all my goals except sugar because I eat a lot of fruit too. But it sounds like everyone is saying they are bad. It's not like I thought they were good for me like veggies, but I don't see what's obscenely wrong with them. Can you help explain?0
-
I don't think they're bad- I think they're pretty darn healthy actually. Low in calories- sure- the sugar is kinda high, but you could be eating worse.0
-
They take care of the candy bar craving and are way better for you than a Snickers or something... thus, the "healthy" part.
But if those were at my desk, I'd be eating them everyday. I had to stop buying that kind of stuff once I could actually see my sugar consumption on MFP. It was shocking! These don't bother me but my husband... that's a different story.0 -
Well, they might not be the best snack option, but you could definitely make many, many, many choices that are a whole lot worse.
And as for everyone saying how their body reacts to those things... I don't know what y'all are talking about. I could eat a whole box and a tub of Activia and feel no different.0 -
@csorenson22, only one person was calling them "unhealthy", and he no doubt eats " very clean". The rest were just saying they have chickory root fiber, and they are called Fiber ONE for a reason. Eat 2 or 3 and the FIBER will make you regret in it the restroom! They are much healthier than most mainstream snacks, I love the brownies myself, but they have a decent amount of sugar, so are not a "health food". That does not mean you cannot indulge though.0

Did you read the rest of the post? Did you see what she was eating for snacks before? Squirt cheese and Hershey's? She said "semi-healthy," not "wonder food." People who are trying to make a lifestyle change for the better one step at a time, no matter how small a step it may be, don't deserve your snark.0 -
Oh! That's what happened yesterday. Lol! I was wondering why my tummy hurt all afternoon. Thanks for clearning this up. I had two back to back.0
-
The only time I have an issue with "too much" fiber is with prunes. I LOVE prunes.. and if they are in the house I will eat 5 or more a day.. this makes for a very uncomfortable tummy.0

When I was pregnant, I kept a jar of peanut butter in my desk. Used to just eat spoonfulls all day long! ACK! Whenever I stock my desk with anything - even relatively healthy stuff, I overeat it!
Now it's just a few protein bars and a mini bag of popcorn (emergency food).
Don't even let me tell you what happened to the extra boxes of girl scout cookies I brought in to sell to co-workers. Let's just say I did not actually sell any of them!0 -

I used to eat a bag of hersheys kisses within an hour; a box of crackers loaded with squirt cheese in less than an hour.... among many other things ...all.day.long... it's no wonder I packed on 60 lbs in less than 6 months- I'm trying to eat healthier, and sure these aren't THE BEST I could eat- but it beats my previous choices. Girl scout cookies- omg they were my WEAKNESS! Now whenever I see them, I turn the other way. I don't want to go back!0 -
I've never had "bodily function" problems with it but I do eat A LOT of fiber in a day...Though I stopped eating them because I tried the weight watchers and they were like 3-4 points which was ridiculous. I'm no longer on the weight watchers diet but haven't bought any in a while. i like the brownies though nom nom nom0

I think that if you have a craving for something sweet and processed, they're a great choice! I personally love things like that for snacks. I used to have a HUGE sugar problem along with Pepsi. I cut all of it out of my diet and I feel great about it. But I have a stash. I have a great big tub on top of my fridge that holds all manner of low calorie, premade, processed snacks. I try to keep them up high so when I want one, it's not just because it was in my line of sight.
I definitely don't eat as well as I should. And I will continue trying to improve. However, snacks are meant to be just that, snacks. You could definitely pick better snacks, but you could definitely pick worse ones too. My suggestion, hide them well. Put them somewhere that is just a little more inconvenient to get to. That way if you really want one, you'll have to dig to the bottom of a bag or the back of a cabinet so you're making a conscious decision and not just mindlessly snacking. I go to school online and I keep nothing anywhere near my workstation. If I do, I'll get a tiny urge to eat something and next thing I know, box is empty. If I have to think more about it, I can go, hmm, not really that hungry, I can wait.
Side note: If those are my only source of fiber for the day, it'll upset my stomach. If I've had fiber from other sources, like fruits and veggies, no issues. Don't know why, that's just me.0 -
Of all the things you could have as a "work stash" those are not bad! 90 calories a piece for a brownie, heck yeah!0
-
I love those! But I make sure to only bring one to work a day if i have them at home so that I'm limiting my options Other than those i try to only keep "healthy" snacks in my drawer (almonds, 100cal popcorn, yogurt and fruit in the fridge). Good job switching from the milk chocolate and squirt cheese0

omg- pepsi used to be a KILLER to me. I would have a 12 pack a day!! or 6 20 oz *I used to work for pepsi too- so that def. didn't help* Needless to say, I have cut it completely out- not even diet soda. It was hard- but I feel so much better for doing it!!0
