Plank- for Abs

I have been reading a lot about Planking to help build core muscles and do them in 30 second intervals while watching T.V.

Has any one seen great success with this? Does any one know how to log in on here I can't seem to find any thing that I think fits it in the exercise list?

  • You can enter in your own exercises, if that helps. But as far as plank goes, my core is a lot stronger because of doing planks in yoga. I haven't done the 30-second interval thing, but mostly because I can hold plank for longer than that (again, thanks to yoga). It definitely works out your core, so try it? Worst-case scenario you don't like it, there are other core exercises you can do.

Planks are definitely a decent exercise for your core. The main problem with them though is that in order to get a good workout with them you have to endure a pretty long amount of pain. I'd much rather do a few sets of leg raises than hold the plank position for long enough to get a good workout, but that's personal preference I guess.

Also, you can build a strong core without necessarily even worrying about doing exercises that only target the core. For example, running, push-ups, and pull-ups all work your core muscles.

I have started running on the elliptical and I can feel it a little and once I have gotten my body used to working out more I am going to incorporate push up. They are a little daunting to me.
  • When I was in high school (oh geez, almost a decade ago  ) I ran 10 miles every day, and let me tell you I had some hot abs. Lol. I really should start running again, but I'm into yoga now and I do the stair machine because I burn more calories. But now I'm thinking about switching back to running outside.
