C25K Question

Started the C25K program on Tuesday. I didn't do as well as I thought. Watching the clock while running made it seem to go one forever. I've ran longer than that before and not had problems. Anyone else experience this?
I was going to do day 2 today but I'm horribly sick so maybe my body was just weak on Tuesday or something. I might have to do week one for a couple weeks.

Congrats on starting. I thought I was gonna die the first time I ran 60 seconds straight, but it got easier. I've done two 5k's now and yesterday I ran for four miles for the first time...and I actually LOVED it. So bizarre.
I found that I had great days...and crappy days. Never could figure out a trend. My boyfriend runs a lot - he's doing his first marathon in December and the same thing happens to him.
I wouldn't worry about it. If you're sick now, it could have just your body being a little weak fighting off whatever bug you have.
Either way - stick with it. I had to repeat a week and I've heard lots of people say they had to. No shame in that at all!
Hope you feel better!0 -
Hi Jenichenny! Not feeling well will certainly throw you off so definitely take it easy. I started C25k A few months ago and due to several reasons I am currently on week 3. I messed up my ankle comming down the stairs in the very begining and it took almost a month to get it to heal, I have repeated weeks because I have had trouble with them, I even modified and made up a week 2.5 because I couldn't do week 3. The weather has been my biggest obstacle lately, but I am one very stubborn b**ch when I want something. That being said I have a small kitchen timer that I tie to my drawstring and I use it for my inervals...this way I don't have to keep looking to see if I am done with the run part, and I use the timer on my phone for the walking part.
The first week was the hardest for me, I actually did it 3 times before I felt I could honestly move on to week 2. Are you running inside on a treadmill or outside? Do you have an Ipod or mp3 player? Is there a nice park or trail you can run? Sometimes distractions are helpful and I find scenery can really be a good one for me. Be careful of running in really hot, humid weather, it can make breathing difficult and wind you faster. I wish you the best of luck it's a wonderful program, feel free to pm me or friend me if you would like to!0 -
If you're using an iPhone you can download the podcast from iTunes for free. It has music on it & a lady tells you when to jog & when to walk. In the C25K it's only jogging & walking, it's when you get to C210k that it's running. Obviously you can run if you want, but If you're struggling - try jogging.0

I was also looking at podcasts and stuff for the C25K and I have some as well if you are interested in looking at these. They have a voice over for when to switch between walking and jogging. I think having the music and not focusing on the time will help.0

I've been using http://www.nhs.uk/LiveWell/c25k/Pages/couch-to-5k.aspx
Never run in about 25 years until I started this - just finished week 7. It really does work.0
