House guests

I am not sure if this is a joke or not...
But, did you invite them to come visit or did they invite themselves?
If you invited them, then you need to do what you have to do to make them comfortable. It's part of being a host to your guests.
If they invited themselves, then tell them you can not host them in your home, give them the number to a few local hotels, and tell them you wish they had asked earlier so you could have maybe worked something out. It is simply rude to invite yourself someplace and then expect others to put you up in their home. They can ASK if you have a place for them to stay, but it shouldn't inconvenience the person they are visiting and if they are told that it is not possible they shouldn't get pissy over it.
My grandmother would NEVER simply invite herself as she was raised better then that.0 -
I didn't know that people really had adult play rooms...Ah-dult as opposed to adult ...first time I read this I thought 'Her grandparents must really hate pool/fussball'!
I was inspired after reading 50 shades of Grey and the hubby was allll for it. We have a 3 bedroom so we moved our daughter into her brothers room to make room for it. Nice addition to the house.
Wow. Please tell me you are joking and that you didn't redesign your house and start doing serious S&M play based only on a crappy novel. At least reassure me by telling me you got some descent instructional manuals that include information on safety.0 -
Ummmm. I'm still waiting for the picture.0

So you guys sleep on the air mattress and let the grand parents have your room. REALLY!! Old people need the respect and a soft bed or they'll be cranky forever!!
I agree. I would give them your room. its only for a weekend.
I have back issues and just bought a 2600 dollar mattress. I can NOT sleep on an air mattress. What if I got them cots instead of air matresses. They are big tents. They can practically stand up in them. The hotels are all booked up. The fair is in town.
I'm so baffled by this whole thing. You have back problems but have set yourself up a "sex" room?!
Okay, okay, where's the hidden cameras?? Am I getting punk'd ...........
What does having a sex room have to do with my back. Sex is soothing.0 -
Does it make me innocent that the first thing that came to mind when you said adult playroom was a pool table and a bar or something.
I had no IDEA people created adult playrooms in the kind of manner. Haha, that's great! And hilarious that your grandparents can't stay for that reason lololol. Sorry I'm not very helpful but just had to add that you've made me learn something new today!0 -
Give them your bedroom, and set up an air mattress for you to sleep on in the spare room. Just tell them you want them to be comfortable, and don't take 'no' for an answer.
Although I strongly suspect this whole post is a joke...This is a good suggestion. This is also why I live in a small, crappy apartment, and make sure *everyone* who might decide they want to visit knows (1) that I live in a small, crappy apartment; (2) that there are really horrible roaches in Houston; and (3) that my air mattress has a hole in it, so that when you wake up in the morning, it is completely deflated. Basically I do everything I can to send the message "you do *not* want to stay with me." Oh, and when people do decide to stay with me, I do everything in my power to alienate them, including having loud threesomes in the next room (true story). Not surprisingly, I don't get many house guests.
LOL Why don't you just say No? That's what I do.
relatives: We're coming to town. Can we stay with you?
me: No.
I can not tell them no. They are my grand parents. As far as staying in my parent house, they live about two states away. That would make a long commute for them.
That post was for the prior poster, not you. The quote that starts with 'Although I strongly suspect this whole post is a joke'.0 -

Yep I think we've all been trolled...0 -

Safety?? How do you think she got the back problems!0 -
Just sleep in the swing.0

Well I mentioned before we put the room in that we had a spare if they ever needed it. Then they called and asked.
There are no available hotels. I already checked. The fair is in town this weekend.0 -
Ahum... a tent is not a replacement for an indoor room. Depending on where in the world you are, it is REALLY not nice to throw them a tent. My corner of the planet is HOT (80f @ night) HUMID (pea soup would be easier to deal with) and the the ground is swampy because of the daily thunderstorms and the skeeters will EAT YOU ALIVE.
Either let them play (put away some of the toys and/or lighten things up in the dungeon) or help out with a hotel room. Be a nice grand-daughter, you can have your fun but don't throw your grandparents outside just because you don't want to see your playroom.0 -

She has back problems...doesn't mean she can't have her woohoo beat up!0 -
So my grand parents are coming in town and need a place to stay. They asked if they could stay in our spare bedroom but I JUST had it redone into a playroom (Adult) and I would prefer for them not to see it. I don't want them thinking bad of their grand daughter. So I was thinking of telling them that it was under construction and locking the door. Then that leaves them no place to stay. Do you think it would be ok for me to offer them a tent and they could sleep in my yard in the back. I have an air matress they could use as well. Thoughts?
Haha! I wouldn't even make YOUR grandparents stay in MY tent! I would gladly give up my own bed for them if they need a place to stay. They're Grandparents..........they've earned pampering by everyone:)0 -

No my husband designed it all himself. He is a plumber so he is sort of crafty. He did a really good job actually.0 -

Haha, another Kati who thought the exact same here!0 -
Ummmm. I'm still waiting for the picture.
I would really like to show you. Unfortunatley I am at work and I don't have any pics on my phone. I will message you one tho later if you really want to see it. The swing that is set up is pretty impressive.0 -

^^you're clearly not taking advantage of the room.
GIVE THEM YOUR BED! I don't care if you paid 35465321534 dollars for your bed. They are 90. My God, I hope you're kidding...0 -
Of course I'm a little perturbed that the Grandparents (consenting adults) aren't allowed to see the room, but the kids are ?!?!?0
-
yeah...it's pretty obvious that the op is trolling you all...:noway: i don't know about anybody else but i don't exactly like to start my day with some annoying trolling...it's like waking up with a headache :grumble:0
-
My grand parents are about 90 and I don't even want to think of them using that room. Plus that is gross. Old people do not have sex.
If they're 90 then they definitely shouldn't be sleeping outside in a tent!!! Tell them the room is under construction and offer to help out with a hotel.
Why should jellybean have to help them out with a room...they are old. Old people have lots of money. I mean hell, they get social security and medicare....what do they have to spend their money on anyway?
Right?! Old people are rich.. that's why I still get birthday money from them... </sarc> (for those oblivious to sarcasm)0 -
I think that sometimes you just gotta tell your grandparents it's back to the old days for you!0

You are in quite the jam, aren't you... well, here's what I suggest: You need to leave the house immediatley - crash at a friends house if you have to. Lock the doors to your house, draw the shades. Get a bunch of mail and make it seem like you haven't been there for a while. Have a neighbour check on your house from time to time and update you on the status of your grandparents. Hopefully, they will have figured out that you're on vacation and gotten a hotel or made other arrangements.
When they ask you what happened, say "grandma, you told me it was next week, silly! Don't you remember me telling you that we were out of town this weekend?"0 -
want about that old matress you have down in the basement?
Thats where I sleep.0 -

I bet it is true... I'm pretty sure my parents haven't had sex since 1988.0 -

Yes please!0 -
Tell them your pet hamster/miniature pig/giant anteater died and you are holding Syncretic ceremonies - they are expected to hold candles, sit on low stools, feast except when fasting, not open doors, nor turn on lights or speak in anything but Malvanian rhyme and they are to help pay for the ceremony as guests of the rejoicing. If they decide to still stay, you can have them sleep in the bathtub and pay for your performance in the "play room" and as part of the exalted ceremony to the departed pet. Should they not skedaddle to the nearest hotel with vacancies (or Wichita) you can always order the needed supplies for your "show" at www.deadfrozenpets.com. The playroom will be overlooked.0
