Not enough to eat/too much caffeine?

I haven't had coffee in a few weeks, but this morning I made myself a really strong pot of coffee (like 3 heaping tablespoons for 4 cups), and I drank about a third of it. I only drank it after eating a bowl of oatmeal though. A few hours later I felt a little funny, but I got up and was walking around and then my head felt really weird. I thought I needed to eat, so I went to make myself food and my head/chest started hurting, and my heart was beating really really fast. I ate a bowl of black beans and rice, and half a vegan chicken patty, and I didn't feel any better.
It's a few hours later now, and my heart beat's slowed down, but my head still hurts and whenever I get up my heart beats really fast and I get nauseas. Is this maybe from too much caffeine, or just not eating enough?

I would guess the caffiene, you should have that much in a day, let alone in a sitting. If it keeps it up you might want to call your doctor just to get checked.
Slowly drink water btw, just sips, not gulps.0 -
It's the caffeine. That happens to my boyfriend.0

Probably a reaction to the caffeine. Your body didn't recognize it anymore. I did the same thing a couple of weeks ago. I hadn't had any caffeine in a few weeks. Had some, and got all sweaty and shaky. No more caffeine for me!0

Oh okay, I'm glad it's not just me! I seriously thought I was having a heart attack/panic attack at first...haha. Thanks guys.0

Happens to me every time, and every time I always hope it doesn't because I LOVE coffee:/0

I would say it's the coffee and lack of any food to help with it. The pain in your stomach and chest was probably indigestion I get it a lot from coffee and spicy stuff makes my chest hurt b/c I have a lot of gas in my belly and the acids going hay wire. The heart rate speeding up is defiantly the caffeine and you get nervous about it probably made it faster. Maybe a half cup of weaker coffee with breakfast at the same time or the 1/2 the caffeine coffee that Folgers sells would be good for you.0

Same thing happened to me. I only had 8oz; I was way too shakey & my heart was sporadic:ohwell:
Learned my lesson & only drink 4oz at a time now.0 -
It's the combination of having so much caffeine on an empty stomach. If I do that - I feel strange and jittery.I keep it to a cup of coffee.. no more until after I've eaten something substantial0

caffeine overdose... still awake0

Sure sounds like the caffeine. I drink a lot of coffee so it doesn't affect me at all anymore, but some of those "energy drinks" give me the jitters and make me sweat like crazy! I tried them a couple times when I needed a boost and didn't have any coffee available, but I can't stand them. Not only do they taste like a chemical bath, they make me feel like I'm on a meth/crack cocktail, just like you described.0
