I don't have a problem with coffee - of course I drink mine black so no cream or sugar to bring me down! In fact, there are health benefits to drinking coffee as well.0

The only reason that I gave up coffee for my diet/new lifestyle is because I don't really like it except with mountains of sugar, syrups, cream and milk in it, and the amount of calories from those added ingredients made the drink not worth it any more.
If you're they type of person that can drink coffee without adding tons of extra calories, or that it is worth it for you and can fit in your food journal, why not drink it?0 -
I sure hope not. I'd hate to suddenly find out that the 34 pounds I've lost over the past 5 months while drinking at least 4-6 cups of coffee a day are all a figment of my imagination.0

Seriously, I have to drink my coffee in the morning. I usually drink it with flavored creamer and I am still losing weight. So I say enjoy it and if you like sugar and creamers while moderate it.0 -
When I saw a nutritionist recently and showed her my food diary to help me figure out why my weight has been fluctuating up and down the same kg for months one of the only recommendations she had was to cut out coffee and hot chocolate. She said it had something to do with the cortisol in caffeine. I never added sugar to my coffee and only had it with lite milk, about 3 cups a day and sometimes 1 or 2 hot chocolates.
Anyway, i'm having a hard time figuring out how this could completely stop my weight loss but for the last week i've only been having 1 cup of coffee a day. In that week my weight went down almost 1kg. I'll have to wait till next week to see if it goes back up before i'm completely convinced!0 -

I gave up a lot but will not give up my coffee and I still have lost 48 pounds. Its what you put in the coffee that can be bad for your diet not the coffee. And in fact it has plenty of benifits. Just ask my wife she is able to live with me as long as I drink my coffee..LOL:drinker:0

I'm a barista which means I drink 4-8oz of espresso every day, and it hasn't slowed me down one bit! Balance it out with water and you're good0

I drink coffee every day and have had no problem losing weight. I never add sugar, just half a serving of So Delicious Coconut Milk Creamer.0

Coffee has been a big help to me throughout both my weight loss and weight maintenance. One of the main reasons for that is that I can slowly work my way through a big urn of coffee and as long as it lasts I don't really get hungry or crave anything.0

I'm not giving up my coffee that's for sure! I think if it's done within moderation just like everything else it's fine! I can't give it up because I will get severe migraines on top of my already chronic migraines no thank you! I do add sugar and just a bit of French Vanilla Creamer, but it's just for flavor. It's well within my Calorie intake and I'm fine. I'm losing (before signing up on MFP I've lost 20lbs in the past month) so I think I'm doing just fine.0

I think it depends on if you're having coffee or If you're having syrupy sugary stuff with a flavor of coffee multiple times a day ; )

Ummm, ...... nobody told my system that and I drink 6-10 cups a day black and strong. Lot's of good benefits and a new study reported on MSN just a few weeks ago touted 6 cups a day as a longevity booster. Learn to drink it black and drink plenty of water and you should be good.
Stress, Pituitary function, Thyroid all could be causing you to increase your Cortisol also. Don't let them blame Coffee (true manna)!

Wait shhhshh! Don't say that! What if the 67lbs I lost hears that, then it might come looking for me and get back on. Lots of good information in the article, but the one thing most of these studies including the one touting it as a longevity booster is that they aren't taking into consideration how different we all are metabolically. I stress without coffee (my last true addiction) and stress definitely in my case causes cortisol release. So I drink it and less stress problem solved. Folks find what works for you and go with that. Just cause it's written or printed doesn;t make it gospel, just one possible way. Drinking boat loads of coffee works for me as I can have an espresso and go to sleep, but if it messes with your world makes you gain weight then don't drink it. Try not drinking for a couple weeks if it helps great, if not drink up!
