Not Sure How I Feel...

My company is having their own version of the Biggest Loser called SuperLoser that
started January 6. Up until that point I had already lost 50 pounds. So even though
my chances of winning were slim, I figured, what the heck and still signed up.
Just after my weigh in, one of my co-workers comes into the room and says,
'you dont have to weigh him, we already know he's fat'. Of course there were a group
of people in the room and they all laughed.
I dunno...ever since then I've been teetering between sadness and anger. Not to
mention the doubts in my head about people remarking on how much weight I lost
(are they just saying that to make me feel better?...will I ever be able to believe the
next comment?).
Just had to get this out.

hi doug... 1st off congrats on losing the 50 pounds thats a great accomplishment .... 2nd sorry about that not so nice comment but to me that would put me in HIGH MOTIVATION MODE to kick some butt on the competition and show them differently ..... good luck to you0

People are usually unkind when they have their own self esteem issues. I agree that it is even more of a motivation to kick butt at your company's competition. It's awesome that you've already lost 50 lbs. and no matter how cruel others are, be proud of your accomplishments. Karma will come around for that guy. :-)0

It's nice of you to share your story, it helps get some of the frustration and anger out too. I as well congratulate you for the great weight loss!! You feel good about that right? No one, especially a co worker can make you feel any less. Who gives a **** what others think, at the end of the day it's what you think.. all that matters. I know it's hard sometimes, but I'm learning that valuable lesson myself every day... i've learned to stop listening to other people..even when they are nice comments because honestly I don't care if they think I look good.. sometimes even the nice comments get aggravating because sometimes it makes me feel like geez was I that disgusting before?? I just go by how I feel and not every day is a good day but that's okay.. because they are now starting to outweigh the bad ones. Good luck to you Doug!! Stay fabulous and thanks for sharing0

Just use that for motivation and kick some serious BUTT!! Just laugh it off and when you are working out think about that ugly rude comment and I promise you it will get you through that work out alot easier.0

Don't doubt the people who give you compliments- I am sure that they really mean them. 50 pounds is fantastic! Clearly that person never mentally left junior high. You can pity his (her) stunted mental growth...... Keep up the good work (and from experience if you must feel bad about it- anger is so much more productive for weight loss- killer workouts!) Good luck in your contest-kick some butt!0

Thanks everyone. Your comments helped greatly. I just have to be careful
I don't over due it. The last thing I need is to croak, then I'll be really skinny
after that

You know the problem with really dumb people? They don't know they're dumb. They really think that everybody sees the world the way they do, and the "smart" people are just hoity-toity about it.
Congratulations, you've found the idiot in your workspace. Now that he's revealed himself, you don't have to wonder anymore. They say "There's one in every crowd".... Well, now you know who the one is.
I'd have probably put him through a wall.0 -
Thats HORRIBLE! I was made fun of my whole entire life for being fat.. I can't believe people are the way they are.. You know, when I was younger, and my dad was at his prime in making fun of my fatness, we saw a fat person walking on a real hot day, dripping sweat, my father goes "look at that fat pig" and I never stuck up for myself, but I stuck up for that person & said "atleast they are outside excercising" he told me I was right, but kept making fun of me.. You just gotta ignore 'em.. Show them what your capable of!0

I have on of those idiots @ work too! they are just insecure about themselves and try to feel better @ the expense of others, I say forget him and do ur best. don't worry about what anyone thinks or says. WAY TO GO ON THE 50LBS!!! WOW0

They see how great you are doing and wish it was them. It is sad, but you know what they about the mean kids on the playground being the ones with hard home lives. They feel better about themselves pushing you down, because they want what you have. Even if they didn't know that was why themselves.
It is hard, but you hve already come SO far! Good for you! :flowerforyou:0
