Starting Weight: 138 lbs
Middle weight: 123 lbs
Last weight: 117 lbs.
Today’s weight basically between 115 and 117 throughout the day.
My story and I am sticking to it.
I was working out 5 to 6 days a week. Ran 5k’s, to half marathons, to even a few triathlons. I am healthy and strong..so I thought. When my doctor told me I had high cholesterol and my glucose dropped I was mortified! My father passed away from type two diabetes so any change in my blood sugar freaks me out! He was always a heavy man and I am always in fear of developing it after watching him suffer so years from a young age.
I started to look at myself than and I noticed I was 138 lbs. I thought well that is a decent weight for me at my height but 23 lbs. more than the 115 I had maintained naturally from age 16 to 32 (in exception to my pregnancy in 1995).
I tried all the things read and heard from the 1500 calories a day and 1200 calories a day, vigorous workouts were something I had been doing training so that was a given, caring about my protein intake, low carb, watching what I ate all day, doing all the things I see is still quite debated. Understandable. All the confusion and information on what is or isn’t the right things to eat, how much to eat, and when to eat I was constantly up and down 5 to 10 lbs. and back again. I just could not find a balance or keep the weight off. Not saying these things not work for other but for it just made me think about nothing but food and diet 24\7. It is so tiring. I was more miserable trying to lose weight then I had ever been. It seem to consume my life!
Last year I decided I just don’t like the idea of diet. I maintained a healthy weight most all my life. So what happened….I was eating more and in taking more protein and food like I was like I was told I should with all the training for events to be healthy. IN the process I gained 23 extra lbs of fat on top of my muscles. I had nice lean muscles before the fat and I only do resistance training no weights because the year I lifted my muscles in my thighs and arms just were NOT flattering on me in my personal opinion. I like looking more softly fit then ripped.
To me all the talk, books, TV, and things tried was not working, I was not finding balance, and it all started to make me a bit crazy and stopped making since to me personally. I simply asked myself “Who knows your body and what it needs more than your own body?” Simple answer “only my body knows what it needs, when, and how much.” It is just not possible for someone else to know it better then well…IT. It is not a ton of other persons in a study, it is not going to respond exactly like anyone else, it dose not burn fat, need the same minerals, or do anything exactly like anyone else.
I stopped counting and focusing on what time, or how many times, and decided I wanted to start over and find balance.
I went on a 7 day fast to clean out all that waist currently in me. It took 3 days till I didn’t feel like I NEEDED caffeine or get a head ace, it took 4 days for the craving of sugary food to stop, on the 6th day even the smell of the donuts at work someone brought in made me feel sick. (Probably all mental but some was physical) It was nice not wanting cookies and donuts. This is something we have at work all the time for others to eat. It was nice not craving them, actual I found myself craving asparagus and bananas? I wondered why for that were odd things to crave. Maybe it was because I needed potassium? Who knows all I knew was I was going to listen to my body and eat them! LOL I also decided No more thinking about numbers and times. I am going to eat when I feel hungry, stop when I am full, and do it only when my body says. Now that I have not had anything addictive for a while like sugar and caffeine and don’t crave them I will eat what I crave. I felt confident that if I was lacking something my body would tell me in some way. SO I did it.
I also stopped vigorously working out. I started taking more walks, jogging when I felt like it, Mt. Biking for run, hiking for fun, and just moving more throughout the day as much as I could. I sit at a desk 8 hours a day 5 days a week so at lunch I walk/jog for 3 or so miles. When I get home I garden, landscape, clean, or go for a bike ride whatever I feel like doing that day as long as I am busy. The TV never comes on till I go to bed and watch a movie till I sleep. Some days I do nothing but lay around read a book and I realize I am not as hungry or want as much food those days. I notice now my body is not hungry till after I do some kind of more physical activity aside from sitting at work so I usually want food and eat after my walk at work around noon. I crave pineapple, basal, and often pasta more than anything. Must be something in these things my body needs more than other things. OH and the smell of garlic have to be the most enticing smell on earth it makes my mouth water! I put it in almost everything I cook.
4 weeks and I had lost 8 lbs. of fat. I started to want to track my progress and went to my fitness pal because they had a high star score on the app. Although I don’t trace much I like reading the success stories and talking about health and keeping a conscious mind on my success. I also get bored and work and find it more interesting than facebooking which I rarely pay any attention to anymore and starting to not like. I joined in Feb 2012 but when I tried to get back on after 5 months I forgot what user ID and password I used. I just started over with a new one in July. I went and posted my progress weight. I lost another 13 lbs from February to April and nothing changed till this past month I lost two lbs (which I personally think is because it has been so hot everything I do outside is so much more work and hard) I am now my usual 115lbs. I feel enlightened, people were asking me now and again this past few months what I put on my face to make it so clear and glow which was something that NEVER happened to me before, I feel great and just went for a health evaluation last week and got the results back yesterday.
I am ecstatic to report my glucose normal, my bad cholesterol way down past normal and my good cholesterol was off the charts! My doctor said “whatever you are doing keep doing it.”
I don’t think I am more clever or right about how anyone should lose weight or be healthy. I only know what worked for me and wanted to tell my story. When I give advice I only give it based on my experience I won’t tell anyone anything else because it is the only think I know that is 100% the truth.
What I would tell others wanting to lose weight? Hummm. If it’s working and you feel great keep it up, if it is not change it, even though their is a ton of good information to think about given on this site listen to your body more than me or anyone else because no one can 100% know more then what your body needs but your body. We can only say what worked for ours and hope it does for you to.

I drank all natural juice. Sorry I should have said a juice fast. The only sugar in them was the natural sugars in the fruit and veggies.
I used all fresh veggies and fruits. I didn't count or look at how much of anything I was getting. I just drank the juice I made when I felt hungry and stopped when full.0
