It can't be fattening, unless you have a different definition of "fasting" to me.

Fasting is bad. Unless you have a religious obligation it is not good for you. If I have learned anything it is that we need feed
our body with the proper fuel to run it. Just my opinion.

Intermittent fasting is highly effective if implemented properly. And it has many benefits beyond just staying lean.

I was seriously contemplating doing IF, but after talking to my buddy he talked me out of it. It's different from person to person. I am trying to gain weight so it wasn't a good strategy for me. But that's just me.

I think it depends one when/how long/ how much energy you plan to exert that day. I think if you listen to your body, give it a go, just make sure you have all your bases covered.

I have seen a lot of articles and people talk about intermittent fasting and it has worked for them, but every body is different.
  • No. Muscle loss, BED, and SERIOUS mood swings are potential ramifications.

Fasting is beneficial - lots of benefits. See the Horizon programme where host settled on 5 day feed, 2 day fast consecutively or spaced out during the week. On fast day you get to eat 1 x approx 500 calorie breakfast and don't eat again until breakfast next day (24 hrs).

I think it really depends on the type of fast, your activities, and if you listen to your body and feel something is going wrong, you can fix it before is become a problem.

I have read several articles by nutritionalists explaining how to do it right and not a whole lot of negative ones.
  • I know alot of people that have done the Daniels fast and lost alot of weight, however, its about how your body responds. I know i have cut down on red meat, and pork, My family and I eat alot of chicken, however we do it late at night. Im getting into a habit, of piling up my plate with more vegetables and less meat, I can feel my body loosening up.

    i vote yay.

i do a 24-hour fast on sundays: i'll skip breakfast and lunch. i do it right after i eat my scheduled cheat meal saturday night and it has kept my weight loss going steadily. i have read that your body is made to go without periods of eating if it has to and it won't jeopardize your weight or health; plus it keeps your metabolism "guessing" and not used to just one caloric intake, etc.. however it does take some perseverance.

I do IF and love it. It's not for everyone though. I have no personal experience with ESE so I have no opinion. I can say this, it's absolutely unnecessary either way.

It's a method, one among many, and works well for me.
